How long will these cold sweats lasts? Ouch!

I'd really appreciate your help. Im on the evening of day 2 and these sweats are really bad, but when I take Klonopin, they're better. How long do they usually last from withdrawing from Percocet. Thanks!

If it helps, I was taking anywhere from 20mgs to 30 mgs 4-5 times a day. I'm going cold turkey now.

sorry for double post...my connection went wonky on me.

Also, meant to say, if after things get better then they seem to go south again after a while, watch out for what they call Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, or PAWS. I've been sober now for 68 days and my short term memory is still crap, even though it's getting better.

I wanted to choke anyone that tried to tell me "Hey man, it really does get better." But you know what? It does. I know all of this is painful, but you will be SO proud you did this.

Hey there,

I'm on my 2nd full week out of treatment. I started on Hydrocodone 6 years ago and ended up on heroin. I cold turkey'ed before I went in and wanted to die. But I remember those sweats well. They general feeling of the world being horrible, an impending doom hovering over your head. I had the entire gamut of symptoms...the sweats went away in about a week for me, as did the throwing up, the runs, and kicking the blankets off the bed at night. Just try to ride out the first week/week and a half as best you can. Get sunshine, force yourself to walk or stretch or SOMETHING physical, take hot hot HOT baths and/or showers, and get potassium in you (bananas?).

The sweats I have experience with three times., The first two times I quit they lasted about 5 or six days where I had to change t-shirts multiple times during the evening. This present round I did a taper which had me having sweats for about the same amount of time but not in multiples during the evening like before..In the second and third week I got a sweat once or twice a week..After the third week, they pretty much quit being a nusance and sleep started improving rapidly..My guess is you will have them a few more days and then they will lighten up for you based on what I experienced and what others have described that have written about it

Hey today is day 17 for me without suboxone. I tapered down to 2 mg. Once you get through the first four days it gets alot easier. In order to stay clean I stayed home for the first few days. Thank God I had a window of no work.To help sleep melatonin which is natural sleep aid or vistaril which is like non narcotic zanax. I took multivitamin, b complex, lysine, a protein shake every day and I recently started a natural supplement that is better than 5htp called SAM-e. For better mood and joint comfort. The RLS you pretty much have to deal with thats what was hardest for me, but when down to 2mg its so much easier than a higher dose. I also see a counslor. I recently started working out at the gym. For starters try to walk around the block a day and move around. Also try to eat as much good food as you can. Oh yeah read a good motivational book. I'm reading a book called Happier by Tal Ben-shahar really good book. feel free to message me . Hang in there. And if you have a belief in your higher power pray to him.

Hi nicki72!  And congrats on quitting the percocet.

I don't know anything about klonopin (sorry) but the night sweats lasted a couple of weeks for me.  They disappeared and showed up again about two months later (I know, weird).  But then they only hung around about a week or so and they're completely gone now (I'm a little over 6 months).

I found a cold cloth (just a face cloth that I would run under cold water) helped with the night sweats - and when I got too cold from that, I'd just take it off.  Sure, it was a lot of back n' forth during the night with that stupid cloth, but it did help me and allowed me to fall asleep (if only mins or an hour at the time but it was better than nothing!).  Hope this helps you and good luck to you!  :)
