How to detox off the methadone clinic after 1 month? I am on 23 milli currently was on 40, help!

Okay so I had this problem with Oxy and a few other scripts, and I thought going to the clinic was the answer, but after only a month of going here, I have realized that the only reason that these people are open is to make money!! So now i signed a thing to lower me but even now everythings such a hassel and after only one month its effecting my whole life , so can i just quit cold turkey before I get sucked in even more or what? any advise please help!!! asap!! ***@****

I agree with Shabby..quit now..hopefully it won't be too bad..methadone is an evil drug..keep posting and let us know how you are doing...

Id quit cold turkey!!!! I did it and I am the weakest of the weak. Id atleast try to just walk away cause It is worth the try. Methadone is a horrible drug and suboxone is wayyyy expensive. I am telling you if I can quit cold turkey anyone can. I whined and cried and begged for drugs but today (day26) I am glad I didnt go back. It can be a VERY LONG withdrawl time. I dont know If someone who needed to be at work everyday can do it(i dont have to work right now) but if you are fortunate enought to have insurance go TO YOUR DOCTOR ASK FOR HELP!!!

I would maybe try to switch to Suboxone.  Methadone is Satan and Suboxone is the Devil.......choose which is the lesser of the two evils......Your at a level where I think Suboxone may be a better option or the lesser evil??........

Well I would stop the clinic for sure...you are totally right, unless you have built up some take homes...you can save them up and make them last longer by tapering yourself down...I found a dr in my area that would prescribe Methadone with a script, and you will die when you go to the pharmacy and see how cheap it is vs what you are paying...I just went in and told my dr that was what I had found to work the best and that I only took 20mg a day, he was fine with it...I then started a schedule of tapering...I actually made a chart...silly but guess what I am now down to about 3 more days of only appx .5 mg a day and my WD have not been that bad at all...I had my husband on my side and he was willing to hold my medicine...ALLmy medicine and give it to me every morning before he went to work...it really hasn't been that bad and living on this site helps me make it through the tough times of the day...i just read the stories and it comforts me to know I am not alone and neither are you...you CAN do this...I would never have imagined myself making this work but if you are ready and willing I promise you can...God Bless You and keep us posted on your plans...

Oh yeah look on the bottom right of this page at Health Questions and read the ones about wd's and tapering and all the vitamins and stuff that help!!  I really works I promise!!

It might do you good to taper off of it. Stick around there are many here more familiar with methadone than I.

Methadone has a long half life. Withdrawals can last for awhile.
