Where do some posts go?

Sometimes it seems like some posts just go poof! I'm new here so I don't know everything, but I have been following a post a couple of hours ago about a lady very worried about her husband! She was contemplating calling 911. I was so worried for her and was following it closely! I went away for an hour for dinner and I come back and I can't find it? What happened? It's not on page 1, 2, or 3. Am I going insane ( it's possible)? Any help for a newbie would be appreciated! Plus, this isn't the first time I've lost a post! :) thank you!
