How to get off percocet

I have been Using 7.5/325 percocet 4 times a day for 1 1/2 month.  After reading lots of other forums this may seem small compared to most.  But i am afraid i am going to get EXTREMELY hooked. So i want to get off all togethter.  Is tthere and websites out there to give me step by step on how to get off them.  I tried cold turkey but i can not tolerate feeling crappy.  Any help would be GREAT.  By the way i take percocet for RSD in my left arm.  I would rather deal with the pain then be on painkillers.  One doctor gave me Methodone but after everything i have readi i refuse to take it.  I also have a whole bottle of oxycontin that i refuse to take.  I will probably to the step down method.  But i need to know who to do it effectivley.  Please help

Hi, I am a 42 year old female, I started taking Percs close to a year ago for bad teeth, at the same time, my partner cheated and left me, I felt the percs make me feel a little better besides helping for pain. Pretty soon (With in about 4 months) I was taking them daily. No excuses, I have made a mistake and abused the medication but now I also get sick when I dont have any. I am taking about 5 ten mg pills a day and I want to STOP. I want to taper down some how. Thanks

A doctor told me once that narcotic pain pills are only recommended for temporary use.
NSAIDS are to be used after initial prescription is gone....
I was also told that NSAID pain relievers are much more effective for pain management.........

I have been taking them exactly as perscribed and there are no addicts in my family.  I have tried to not takie them for one day and i felt terrible.  Body aches and flu like symptoms.  I oculdn't stand it so i started taking them again.  I guess i need to stop being a whimp and get over it.

Welcome to the site......

If you take as prescribed and there are no prior addicts or alcoholics in your family you could be good to go.

Motrin 800 won't take care of the pain?

There are different ways to taper and everyone is different but right now I take 1/2 of a 10mg ONLY when I can not stand it anymore. And as I have posed before only take that 1 or a 1/2, it takes a good hour before your body will feel the meds again and some of us tend to over medicate in these situations just for relief but it will come with that small dosage just give it time. Hopefully, I will be able to go a little longer each and every day. If you have only been on these a month and a half you might be surprised and the W/D's may only last a day for you and not be that bad. I know that is how it was for me in the past when I was on them for a short time. Take care and keep us posted on your progress.
