How to help someone

I have a childhood friend who has a cocaine addiction problem, though she has gone through many rehabilitation programs, the fact that she doesn`t want to quit.
A few days ago she ended up under medical treatment for 3 days.
Even though she could be in a life threatening situation the fact that any intervention from others is illegal and, and irresponsible. That`s why I joined this forum, I think there is a way for me to treat her in a worst case scenario, but I need some advice. She takes Zyprexa, and one of the side effects , as all neuroleptic decreases the dopamine release in the brain specially haloperidol, Since cocaine stimulates the gland that produces dopamine and unlike opium derivates which attach themselves to the endorphins receptors and…
So, with a small supply of haloperidol I could counteract the effect??? Can you help me here?

Yikes, you wanna counteract the coke by giving her another drug? Take the advice above, don't be messing around with this. Your hanging around her all coked out like this? Have you used cocaine? What was the medical treatment for, an overdose? Sorry for questions, i just don't understand this post. She won't quit till she's ready and you don't wanna be around someone coming off coke.

I'm sorry, but you absolutely have to be out of your mind to play doctor on your friend with Haldol. The fact that she's on Zyprexa shows that she's been diagnosed as having schizophrenia. That's a diagnosis left to a psychiatrist, not "friends". You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. Dosing her with Haldol will only lead you to jail. If she becomes violent or you fear for her life, call 911. And, by the way, in most states...if she poses a threat to herself or others..the hospital can and will place her on a psych hold.

Obviously your friend doesn't want any help if being in the hospital 3 days didn't make her stop and think. You also stated she doesn't want to stop so anything you do at this point( besides  guide her gently in the right direction) is wasted energy. Until she has truly had enough then you just have to "stand by"! I certainly wouldn't want  you to put yourself in a bad situation by administering drugs to her and have something bad happen!! I would rethink that before you end up in alot of trouble....good Luck

first of all, you can't help your friend unless she wants help. I am with allaboutmary, you are talking over my head. The only think you can do at this point is love your friend, be supportive but don't help her addiction. Sorry I can't be of any help, maybe others will be on later that can.

All this seems to be over my head, but are you trying to treat your addict friend with drugs ????????   You probably won't get many responces here if that's what your asking. Sorry
