Thank you for your words of encouragement. The way of lookng at getting the flu is a good way to look at it. May I ask what you mean by day four??
Thanks for your comments. I don't believe I was using long enough to warrant Subs. I also don't need two rounds of w/d's. I'm going the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol. I don't need another addictive drug in my system.
Thanks again.
wildwoodone said it best.....
sub can be very addicting and really make you feel good and normal etc....but god forbid the day comes when you either run out or you stop taking it......there is a severe price you will pay that noone hardly talks about....doctors and experts claim there isnt a severe wd....they claim a mild wd.....BS....what i have learned is there is alot of information out there and its up toyou to believe what you want....there are other forums out there ( i wont mention the name) that swear by the product and if u even say anythng negative they will bombard you with so much scientific info your head will spin.......Im trying to fnd out why i went through such a horible time when i decided to stop taking sub...i made it six days and man i thought i was going to die......i had to go to the dr and get back on suboxone........god i didnt want too...but i couldnt take itno more........even the pharmacist was amazed on how the drug reacted to me when i stopped....i was on a low doze too....so i search every night trying to find out how to get off of suboxone..........so when you hear ppl say "your leaving a illegal drug for a legal drug" that is sooooo true......
once i find the answer i will report back
I actually felt euphoria from the sub....full of energy and in a great get up and go mood. It felt mood altering to me. I also only took it for about a month. I agree with the majority that the withdrawal from the sub was worse than from hydro. Took about 3 days to kick in but still having trouble sleeping a month later which was usually gone within a week with hydro w/d. I actually loved being on the sub and would have loved to be on it long term but realized I liked it too much!!
First, realize that hydrocodone contains acetaminophen (one extra strength tylenol per tablet) which is toxic to the liver. 20-25 per day can easily cause permanent liver damage and a simple blood test can determine if and how much damage has occurred. Taking 50 tylenol at once can kill the liver (which is what kills someone who commits suicide by tylenol overdose). You can imagine that taking 50 over two days also does damage.
Suboxone is a very different opiate known as an agonist/antagonist which acts on the same opiate receptors in the brain but blocks euphoria while preventing withdrawal symptoms. Administered under a knowledgeable physicians direction it can help patients stick to their commitment to stop using by decreasing physical discomfort and cravings. It should be slowly tapered. It has NO effect on PAWS. PAWS is the result of your brain having to learn to make chemicals it stopped making once the substance you were taking supplied those chemicals. This takes time, depending on the drug you are addicted to. Taking any other mood altering medication to treat PAWS simply delays PAWS since the brain still does not have to make the chemicals.
Suboxone is NOT magic...nor does it cure addiction. Without ************** and the lifestyle changes it teaches, relapse after suboxone is nearly 100%.
Hi,
You don't mention how long your habit was? Mine is 28 years .
I am sub. 2 8mgs a day.
My DOC was morphine, hrydo's & perk's when I couldn't get morhpine.
mostly morphine.
I don't think sub is for people with a short history.
If you choose to use the sub without a dr giving it to you, be careful.
good luck to you

I just started day four of cold turkey from the same exact dosage!!!! Its not as bad as you think to just go cold turkey. Its not fun bit its no going to kill you. Just think to your self " Im going to get the flu tomorow" and follow the Thomas recipe and be prepared and you will be fine. today or tomorrow i am going to do an hour by hour accounting of my experience maybe it will help you?
I took was taking 20-25 10 mg hydro's a day. I exhausted every other option. I went on a agressive taper plan. My Dr started me WAY TOO HIGH, at 12 mg's, but after 3 days I was down to 6 mg's, then 4, then 2 (where I stayed for about 5-6 days, then 1 mg for a few, then .5 for a few days. I am on day 2 of being off sub. I def don't feel as good as I did when I was taking the sub, but I'm making it. I got some clonidine (used for blood pressure) from my Dr, this med helps to regulate your body temperature so you don't have the extreme cold sweats. If I could do the sub over again, I would have started at 2 mg, and tapered from there, but I didn't know enough yet. Good luck :)
PAWS is a result of withdrawal. It's not specific to Sub. And, yes, many people have done the short term Sub detox with good results.
Thanks for your answer. A little confused. The guy wrote, "the loner the sub use the longer the PAWS. Does that mean if I don't use subs I will not have PAWS? Also, I was only intending on getting 7- pills to make it through the first week to week 1/2. It doesn't seem what he wrote applies. He's talking long term. Do you know of anyone that has used it very short term for the first week of w/d?
The main question is this...have you tried and failed at every other approach to get clean? Have you tried tapering? Have you tried Col Turkey? Have you exhausted every option? If you answer yes to all of these then it MAY be time to talk to a Suboxone doctor and get some real advice from a professional (I did the Sub route but am by no means an expert)
Please go to the Health Pages - (Upper right side of this sheet) and look for a post titled "Members Experiences Coming off of Suboxone" It may help you decide. All the best.
