Hydrocodone/PAWS

I have been on hydro for over 12 months, the MG varied. I finally just had surgery, and as of monday have gone cold turkey. I thought this morning, today was to be better, but there have been minutes, i thought i was going to lose my mind. Does anyone know how long, the severe PAWS will continue? Some have told me 5-7 days is the worst and all better after that. I was taking 90-110 mg everyday for pain relief..

You are on the down hill slide now but, you probably will have a few more days of not feeling so good.
Days 5-8 were bad days for me but then I felt a lot better. Every one is different you may feel great tomorrow but if not just hang in there, I promise it will get better, you are almost home!!
In the lower right hand portion of this page click on and read a little about PAWS that comes later as worried stated. Some get it some don't, maybe you will be lucky and in a few days you are back to your old self. Try to exercise and eat, do something to take your mind off of it for a while. you will make it!!!
Good Luck and hang tough!!!

PAWS and detox are 2 separate things...just because u detox does not mean u will have PAWS...that is like later..the aftermath of pill use/narc use...u crave and do not feel whole without them..it is a mental and not a physical condition and not so for all...u may never have cravings  or u may...good thing is u r done!

Congrats for trying to get off that stuff.  It takes over your life until you finally get sick and tired of it.  My experience was with fentanyl and oxycodone, the W/D flu on steriods lasted about 10 days for me, then the PAWS hit.  I'd like to say that I'm over it but with fentanyl it can take up to a year.  I know that it wont be so bad for you but the worse part will be for another 10 days or so, then it will taper off.  The funny thing is that after you weather through all that you can actually feel yourself coming back, it's a strange feeling.  Your brain has to dump all the opiate receptors that it has produced.  Good luck keep us posted.

I am on day 2 and feel better but still have the urges to go get a pill.  I tapered off this time and it seemed to work a little better than last time when I quit c/t.  In the past I didn't feel normal until about day 5.  So pretty much you have a week of hell.  But it is well worth feeling life again.  I hope the best for you.
