Hydrocodone addiction

Been taking 2 -3 10mgs per day.... now down to half of that. Weaning off this crap.. Have been on it going on two years. Dr. precribed for broken foot and never got off. Anyone have any ideas for energy level.. I work outside and it has sucked! I am 42 and fairly atheletic. Going to continue weaning till I get off! How long should I wean off? Thanks for any of you who have been off this crap! I salute you!!

hi and welcome to this site!!  so glad that you made the decision to stop taking the pills!  i was on hydro for many years and tried to taper for one day but i just jumped and flushed everything.....i knew it would be too tempting and i'd just take them and not taper.....we really can't give tapering advice on the forum because every person is diff.....but it has been done.....your energy will be low...not gonna lie as you probably already see....but it does come back....not as fast as we want but it does.....this site is an awesome place for info....if you read the Thomas recipe at bottom right corner of the page...there is info there for detox/WDs....please keep posting and reading the posts....this site has saved me literally.....tmrw will be 21 days clean!! stay strong and know we are all here for you and want you to succeed!!

Welcome to the site! What does your doctor say? Does he want you to taper more? Great that you're in good shape. My guess is if you're at 15mg now, going through withdrawal now is very doable for you. But your doctor knows you WAY better than anyone on this site! He has your charts. If you stop now you might have one or two days of flu-like symptoms, but you'll rapidly get it together after that. I don't think energy will be too much of a problem if yr in good shape. Pick a weekend (like this one coming up?) You might want to call in sick monday to make it a long weekend, or you just might not need monday off. When back to work you'll be tired for awhile. If you scroll below on the right, click on the Thomas Recipe and get those items together. Get an all-natural sleep aid like Alteril for sleep. Avoid any of the "PMs" like tylenolPM or anything w/Antihistimine. They just leave a hangover and create misery. Hylands restless legs is also helpful for RLS, which is another symptom you may experience. When I couldn't sleep a hot soak worked like a charm. Epsome salts in the bath takes care of soreness as you go through detox.

My experience: I came off of 20-30mgs cold turkey. What kicked my 66 year old butt was the lack of sleep. First RLS kept me awake and then just plain old insomnia.  In 3 weeks I was sleeping fairly well with a bad night here and there. My energy level is back and I'm working out at the gym, walking 2-3 miles a day w/2 dogs. I walked every day throughout detox, no matter what or how i felt. Energy begets energy. After a week's WDs I went into aftercare so I won't have to repeat WDs again!

Wish you luck! Keep posting and let us know how yr doing!
