Hydrocodone withdrawal

I have been tapering for three days and I am considering just stopping and sucking it up.  Was taking 10 10/325s a day - Does Tramadol help?

Thanks - took 3 10/325s yesterday, 2 .5/325s so far today and I feel.....weird but here.  Made it to work.  Been taking 800mg ibuprofen because the back pain is back a little bit and I am afraid of headaches, and ativan as an aid.

everyone reacts differently. sounds like your taper is going good. why don't you keep it up. the lower your dose when you quit the better.
i tappered from 9 pills (10/650 hydrocodones) a day - to 1 split in half which i took the last day. the next week was great. only had trouble sleeping the 2nd nite and that may have been from sleeping on an airbed. they really suck! that was Dec 3rd and i've felt great ever since.

I did the taper method was taking 6 10/325 a day.  Started with 4 a day for a week then 3day for a week and so on till I was done.  It worked pretty well.  My doc game me Ultram and said it wasn't addictting but evryone on here from what I read said it was.  So now I will have to taper off those.  I have only been doing those for a month, the vics I was on for 4yrs.

Thursday you may feel rather blah. Friday and Saturday will be like really bad flu. You can do this. Stay in touch here with questions and for support. It is doable.

Thanks guys - I have had two today and must stop by Wednesday (a promise and deadline established with some people who care about me).   I will taper through Wednesday.  Based upon what I have said how will I feel on Thursday?

nogie, that is good advice too. Or space it out until Friday and then the weekend for the final bit off of them. The reason I thought it might be OK to quit. Is that they haven't been taking them for a really long time. And the fact that they are already in withdrawals. 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other.

Like GoingTo said, you tapered faster than you probably should have, but since you are down to a pill or two a day, I would stay there for a few days, go down to just one for a couple and then 1/2 for a day or two.

Quitting is tough, but a wonderful thing once you get past the w/d's.

Keep us posted, there are a lot of good people here with excellent advice.

No tramadol!  I was switched to Tram b/c it was non addicting- well if you can get high off of it and have w/d's and crave it, It qualifies as addictive in my book.  It takes longer to get out of your system.  Hydro is as quick as anything to purge from your body, although a day in w/d's feels like a year, so 'quick' is pretty relative.

You have tapered so fast that you are in withdrawals. I would avoid alcohol and other drugs. You have a choice to make. Either quit right now or continue with the taper. If you quit, you will have more w/ds but they will be over in a few days. It will not be pleasant, but then it is done. If you continue tapering, that is OK too. The idea with tapering is to slowly decrease your dose every day or two. This gives your body a chance to adjust. If you are into a full blown Flu, you have tapered too fast. It sounds like you are doing pretty well, considering how fast you've tapered. You might just want to quit altogether. By Wednesday you will be feeling better. It's up to you. Look in my journals for the Thomas recipe. There are things in there to help you, no matter which way you go. Keep posting here. It will be your life line.

I can continue tapering - do you think this is better?  It is 2pm and I have had one pill, down from taking 10 three days ago.  I don't feel particularly well but I do not feel like I have the flu.  I have been taking Hydro since last summer.  Should alcohol be avoided?

I wouldn't do Tramadol. It is a synthetic opiate and is harder to get off of than Hydros. If you are tapering, is there a reason you can't continue tapering? What dose are you on now? How long have you been taking the Hydros?
