concerned about risk

my girlfriend is 37wks pregnant. she was prescribed oxycodone by a doctor pryor to becoming pregnant. she found out a 7wks she was pregnant and stopped taking her meds cold turkey. she was very sick for like 2weeks. but everything was ok. she has medical reasons to need the meds for back injuries due to a car wreck. towards the end like the last month she has been in extreme pain and has takin a 30mg pill once a day the last 3 wks. i am concerned how this will affect my baby and also was told that if the baby is born and has withdrawls that they can take the baby? is this true? even though she was prescribed the them but stopped yaking them and just had some left out the sricpt from when she first got pregnant. she didnt continue to get them every month it was just what she had left. she was honest with her ob-gyn when she first seen him about becoming pregnant and put what meds she was on pryor to getting pregnant in her paperwork and told the doctor as well. he asked if she was still taking them she told him that as soon as she found out she was pregnant she stopped cold turkey he asked her how that went. said he would do random drug screen throughout the prenancy. but never told her not to take them if she needed them. like i said and she didnt until about 3wks ago. i am just wondering if they can take my baby because of that. she only took half a 30mg the last week to wing herself back down and is not taking them anymore as of 2days ago. but i am worried she can go into labor anytime now and is due in 3 weeks what will happen?

thanks so much for responding back to me i will tell her what u said about telling her doctor. if he did do drug screens thoughout the pregnancy she has been clean, cause if not he would have been done said something to her i believe. she is not feeling well, but it dont seem to be as bad as the first time she stopped she has just been in pain of course, restless when trying to sleep, feeling nausea, and having diarrhea, but doing well other than that, she is still able to get up and go to work every morning. so i think they will be ok. i am just worried that they will take my baby if she dont tell the doctor that she has been taking the meds the last few weeks.

Okay...The very best thing she can do is to notify the OB immediately and be very honest. The fact that he/she wanted to do random drug screens was in case she was an addict and lying to him. They like to know what they're dealing with for the future. It's never a good idea to stop cold turkey. It can precipitate labor.

Have her call tomorrow and tell them everything. When your honest up front it goes a long way. They would find out anyway when she does go into labor because the hospitals do a drug screen upon admission to labor and delivery. It's standard procedure.

No one will take your baby if you're honest and have a good reason for the pills. But,again, cold turkey is not good so call the doctor. He may put her on a small daily dose until delivery. I don't know. Just call...

How is she feeling after two days without the pills?
