tramdol detox

I am on day 20 of no tramadol cold turkey. I went to see a new doctor and told her about my addiction to tramadol and how hard a time I was having from the withdrawals. I am still tired and having anxiety in the late afternoons. When will this end? She has put me on a low dose of Prozac 20 mg one a day. I started Tuesday nite. I seem to be even more tired now. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have never taken AD's and wonder how long until I am feeling better and have some motivation for daily life again. The doctor told me that this medicine would help my brain start functioning like it is supposed to after all the damage the tramadol has done from 3 years use. She also told me if I was to take ANY tramadol with this new drug I WOULD have a seizure. So, no more tramadol ever. Thanks.

just thought I'd ask if anyone knows anything about Wellbutrin I am planning on tking it after I stop the tram and haven't heard if it could be dangerous.  Sometimes it takes awhile for the meds to start working. Hope u feel better soon.

Thanks for your response. I told mt doctor all about my use. since I had been off Tramadol for over a week she said there is no reason to start taking them again to taper off. I know that the ADs will take a while to really take effect. I am just soooo tired of being sooo tired. It is frustrating. I started taking the Tramadol because I had told my doctor I didnt want any narcotic pain relievers. I had been clean from taking methadone for 2 years at that point. Well 3 years later.....I am struggling getting clean from the tramadol. It is harder mentally too. It did keep me from ever going back to taking any narcotics though. I have learned this is very common.

I think - avisg - can help you with this problem best through experience.  I have heard but cannot completely confirm that CT on Tram is dangerous in itself and it should be tapered.  Does your doc know this?  However if you are already on day 20 maybe the danger is over. idk.  I can tell you that AD's (most if not all) do make you tired - because they calm down your mental stress. - this is normal.  Sleeping all day and night isn't however normal and there are some newer/better? ADs on the market which have less side effects than before.

I have been prescribed Tram but am very leery about taking it.  This is one more story that makes me not want to get on them.
