Hyper tension caused by clonidine

How long does hyper tension caused by Clonidine generally last? I have been trying to find others experiences with the length the rebound effect lasted.

Hey man congrats. I may not know who you are but I know what a long and painful struggle coming off heavy opiates after a long period of time is like. September of '11 through early January '12 I was taking 200 mg morphine, smoking 160 mg of Oxy, and eating 30-40 mg of methadone daily. Definitely my heaviest period of using. I'm on a small dose of Buprenorphine now, 2-4 mg a day. Started out taking 32 mg/day mid-late January. The first 28 mg was easy enough to taper down from, but those last few milligrams just suck. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone in you're fight, best of luck to you.

thanks for checking back in.congratulatiions!!!!! so happy for you and so proud of you.methadone is a long slow recovery. my husband was on meth. for 10 yrs. highest dose 100mg slow taper for 8months and then he went cold turkey at 20mg.he was also taking xanax .sick, sick, sick for months. he has now been in recovery for 16 months. it is freedom, no more being chained to that bottle, chained to the clinic, the symptoms will last for a few months.
that is great you are feeling better, good for you.that  is a major accomplishment. take vitamins, eat healthy, exercise that will help the endrophins to start to produce again.
stay busy. what are you going to do to prevent relapse? counseling,na/aa.
keep on keeping on, fight the good fight, keep on truckin, keep the faith
praying for you

I am sorry for the late reply. I weened myself down to 6mg from 90mg over a period of a year and a half. I took it very slow, but I couldn't get below 6mg. The taper started to get difficult around 15mg because it would not hold me throughout the day and would not allow me to sleep at night. am now on day 16. I started to feel better around day 10, but still have symptoms of stomach pain, restlessness, and the hot/cold flashes. The restlessness and flashes are significantly better though. It seems every day or two, I feel an improvement. 6 years on methadone and I am finally almost free!

Those are the effects of methadone that you are feeling.......Stopping after one pill isnt any type of affect from the clonodine.  Methadone withdrawal can take months if you are niot lucky - - and it is brutal.  Redirect your personal research more into the methadone.....you will never be able to learn too much about it.  I have plenty of various detox experience and methadone, in some manners, was the absolute worst WD that I have ever encountered.........and lengthy!

Yes, I was 4 days into methadone withdrawal. It has been 6 days since I have taken the clonidine .01 mg. My heart still feels like it's beating much harder than before I took it. I have read that clonidine causes a rebound effect in blood pressure when stopped abruptly. I did not know that stopping after taking it once could cause the rebound effect.

No, I was not prescribed the medication, I obtained it through another source. I know it was dumb for me to take it while it wasn't prescribed to me but, I was desperate for relief so I would've taken just about anything that wasn't an opiate. I am just searching for other peoples experiences after taking Clonidine.
