I Hate This Part!!!!!

Well......Yesterday evening and this morning has been horrible.  I was dead to the world last night but did ok at work throughout the day.  I by no means am whistleing dixie but it was tolerable until I arrived home.  This morning was just as bad.....I think I am battling the depression side of things and the lack of motivation or energy.  I am past most of the physical affects and am stuck with the horrible mental ones.  I know for me at least the mental fight is worse than the physical.  I think this is where I fail most times is in this mental anguish stage.  I get so tired of barely feeling better each day that it wears on me.....Just a little relief would go a long way.....A full night of un-interupted sleep, one day of motivation, and one day of not thinking about not doing drugs!!!!  I guess I am just a whinner today but I hate going into the weekend with this "Blah" feeling.  The only thing I feel like doing is bundling up in a blanket and watching tv all weekend and feel sorry for myself.....My wife and child will not allow me to do this but that is about as much motivation as I can muster right now......Sorry for complaining or sounding whinnie but I just wanted to talk about how I was feeling......

HEY Jenifer....try to hang in there it sound like your going threw a ruff detox....a lot of what your feeling is rebound pain....it is sorta a hiper sensitive feeling we get when we come off narcotics it will go away with some time and your pain clock will sorta reset itself...most of us myself included find our pain a lot more manageable off the pills then on them your body/brain will actually create pain to get the narcotic...its a viscous cycle but once its broken for a wile things should begin to smooth out for you hang in there start yourself a thread by starting with the green box marked post a question ...you'll get a lot more support that way hang in there better days are ahead good luck and God bless....Gnarly

I know what your mean. Today has been cloudy and nasty looking out. I have sat around and managed to do nothing.

I think you are feeling like a lot of us feel and good for your wife and daughter for pushing you. Even though you don't like it, moving around more does help with the energy and depression. It all sounds blah yes, but you have made it this far and you will keep going.

I suggest following the wive's order the best medicine for you today............

God Bless

So, I just started drinking the first of the protein shakes.  After a HORIFFIC day of pain and agony about 1/2 of a cup is about all I've been able to tolerate, but that's more than I could before.  Thanks so much for mentioning those - they will definitely be a life saver for me, I was down to being unable to stand on my own just from the weakness alone.  Good luck to you two!

Awesome, I will be sure to start on those this afternoon with our grocery store run.  I know the lack of eating totally affects the lack of energy also.  Always some damn "circle" effect for the body!!!

I agree with the protein shakes. I drink two chocolate ones (100 grams of protein total) a day and it really helps, especially when your appetite drops. Another thing I have been eating are these electrolyte "Blocks" by Cliff Bar. They are these small, all natural chews that are loaded with electrolytes. I find they help with low energy and when I am sweating a bunch.

Trust me, we have all had our "whiny" days. They pass.

Just wanted to thank you for your post - it helped me tremendously.  I'm fighting that urge to do nothing as I feel like I'm physically & mentally exhausted beyond exhausted.  I'm not eating so I see where you recommended the whey shakes, I'll look into those and pray they stay down.  I know at this point I'm not getting any vitamins or minerals whatsoever!

justneedtotalk - good luck to you, i know things will continue to improve for you!

HI ....what your feeling is pritty normal for coming off narcotics ....how long it last is usually based on how long and sever your habit was....try not to get discouraged this is all part of getting clean....a good aftercare program would really help you now...it would be good if you could hit a few meetings your not alone with how you feel and if you get to a meeting you can share with others going threw the same thing it really helps ....just know it gets better
it can be a wile so be ready to fight...push yourself to do stuff with the family even if you dont feel like it...go for a walk with your wife and kids...getting out side helps do anything BUT isolate ...I know thats probably what you feel like doing but fight it you have to want to get well....this is all about attitude from here on...try your best to keep a positve attitude going also you may want to try the amino acids listed on the right of the screen they have helped many...I drink whey protein shakes and recommend them to everyone there loaded with vitamins amino acids as well as protein all of witch the brain needs to heal...you can pick up a 2lb can up at walmart for 15 bucks the chocolate flavor is good
