I NEED HELP GETTING OFF TRAMADOLE!

Question

I need help in getting off Tramadole. It's ruining my life. My doctor has me on a taper of 4 for 3 days, 3 for four days etc.. I can't get past 4 a day. I have an appointment with a doctor and I am going to talk to him about Suboxene. ( I think that's how to spell it) Has anyone ever tried this med to get off Tramadole? My doctor's office treats me like I'm sub-human for calling and requesting that they help me get off the medication that THEY told me was non narcotic. I feel horrible as it is that I am in this mess. Please respond...

I too was put on Tramadol and it did absolutely nothing for me. Pharm9 on the board gave some GREAT information about it. But if it does nothing for you - now is the time to get off of it from the things I have heard, it is worse than hydrocodone.

tramadol is highly addicting and can produce the same feelings some get on hydro its a synthetic opiate ...... we have had many many become very addicted and go threw hellish wd .....

Is there a "high" you get from them?? I have taken Tramadol before and Hydrocodone and I just don't see why you would want to take Tramadol unless you are taking like 5 or 6 at a time....

I'm addicted to it...I tried kicking it for a week but it was horrible..worse thing I've ever been through..I'm now trying to reduce my daily intake..was up to nine/day and am now down to 6-7 or so...I have a refill do next week and I hope that will be my last...I am making an appointment with my doctor and talking about it's addictive qualities because it is most definitely addictive.

I don't understand how you can get addicted to Tramadol if it is not a narcotic?? do you just take several of them and you get the same effect as taking hydro's? I am confused....lol....nothing new for me though.

I went cold turkey without knowing it. I been on several narcotic pain meds. and Tramadol in my opinion is the worst med. i ever been on. I'm sorry to say this but that is how i reacted. I was up to 6-8 aday and ran out. I was in severe W/D for 4 weeks. Many Doctors dont know how addicting this drug is so they prescribe plenty of it. I hope you can talk to your Doc. or some one  else about this. I hope everything goes well for you. Remember that is how i reacted and everybody reacts different so hopefully it wont be to bad. You are doing very well and you have made it down to 4 a day I.Doctors do not tend to use sub for coming off of tramadol because they "as you said consider them to be non narcotic" However we have had a few members that doctors have put them on sub for tram ...
I was addicted to tram as well so I know how hellish it can be to come off of .I think they are trying to taper you too fast. I would discuss maybe Seven to Ten days between drops if they are unwilling to try the sub .This will give your body time to adjust between each.You can do this it is hard but I promise its worth it in the end...
