I kind of fell off the face of the earth for awhile

I tried to CT from a daily 20-50   5/500mg 7.5/750 10/325 (whatever I could get) habit and honestly I couldn't do it alone. After realizing it was a lot worse than what I thought I started researching Suboxone. I heard both, Good and Bad things about it but in the end I decided that it was best for me. So today was my first dose, I was prescribed 16 8mg tabs and I was too scared to take a whole half so i broke one up into 8 small pieces. At 8am (I was in full blown WD's) I took a tiny piece and within 30 minutes I literally felt the WD symptoms leaving my body. I feel so good in a normal way. I didn't get any kind of a buzz or anything Some people say they do but I didn't. My family can see a huge difference in me already and, so can I! My detox program is a very short one. I'm not going to stay on the subs for more than 10 days and I'm really going to try to not have to take more than 2 times a day. My Sub Dr. Is really great! I can really tell that he HONESTLY cares about me. He wants me off the Subs asap. He is providing me with counseling basically for free because I have no insurance. So, I just wanted to post because I know a lot of people don't recommend Subs but if you can't do it alone I would say to give it a shot. Follow the dr's orders and try to take the least amount of Subs as possible and get off of them asap! I finally feel like I can do this I feel so back to normal and just overall good without the vicodin. I'm glad I made the decision to do this. I feel like the ball and chain have been cut off and I'm free. I know the Subs can be addicting but I believe that if I do it right (A short detox) and the counseling I'm going to be just fine. I'm thinking about looking up NA/AA meetings in my area and possibly start attending those also!

With the amount of acetaminophen you were taking you had to do something. Is sub the answer? Maybe or maybe not but it's much better than taking the high amount of acetaminophen that you were. As long as you did your research, are making an informed decision, and feel you are doing what's best for you, then that's all that really matters. You won't be just taking another pill. You already said you will be going to counseling so good for you! It will give you the chance to make the necessary life changes to live a clean life.

Best of luck to you and if you need anything, please let me know.

I've never used subs. I just think IB and ricart ARE trying to help. We addicts have a way of distorting things to fit our immediate needs and wants. You want to get off the pills and feel normal. That is the first and most important step; now, how you decide to proceed from there may be different from the decision I made. All I know is I've been reading the posts on this site for days and days, and have found very few positive things written about subs. Thant doesn't mean that you won't be fine; IB and ricart seemed truly concerned and are expressing that concern, not offering judgement. I tried to cut my use so I could slowly get off the meds - I couldn't do it. I wanted the feeling, and even cutting back 1/2, my mind ended up screaming at me. So, please stay on this site; we do mean well. It's hard sometimes to understand what someone is trying to say if you can't look them in the eyes.

Thanks for all of the "Support". I have a question... Have either one of you been on Suboxone? And I meant BACK to normal. Feeling the way I felt before I put one single pill down my throat. I researched the sub A LOT before I made my decision so, I know what can happen. The best way to use the sub is to use the least amnt. as possible and to get off of it as quickly as possible. I don't really think it's fair to judge my situation... at least that's what I feel like is happening here. Everyone is different and just because people do become addicted to the sub doesn't mean I will, and I'm not saying I wont. I came for support and encouragement not for anyone to put down the decision I made. Only time will tell but I don't think I'll be posting here for "support" anymore,

I really hope this works out but you do know that when you get off of the sub which is a very potent opiate, you are going to have to go through withdrawal and there is just no easy way out with opiates. When you are an addict normal is high and high is normal.
