IS THIS PAWS??

Hi everyone! I first off all have to say as far as addiction goes....I am feeling pretty good. Its been a month since I used anything, and for the most part, I feel great. However, one exception. I was scratching my chest the other day and felt what I thought was a lump. It is at the very bottom of my sternum and after research I think its my xyphoid process. Here is the wierd part. I can't quit obessesing about it. I think about it night and day. I feel it constatantly and have now made it sore. It sticks out a little, and I may have always had it, but just discovered it. Anyway, my question is this obsession, is it part of PAWS, not the lump, just the constant worry. My stomach hurts now, I don't know if it is from worry or what. I know the answer would be go and check it out, but I owe the doc 200 dollars and don't have it. They won't see me until I pay for it. Any ideas???

I was just trying to inject some humor.  I'm not worried about anything.  I'm always glad to see someone come as far as you have.   It's not easy, but very worth it.   I know for me, when I was using, I didn't think about all the things going on with my body.  Lets face it, the pills made us not care.   Then suddenly every little thing grabbed my attention.   That will pass too.   Keep on trucking along...you are doing great!

congrats on 1 month clean!  that's really great!  just keep it up...and i would try not to obsess over the lump....but if you are still worried in a week or so, maybe go to the ER if the doc won't see you.  Great job on the clean time!!

Congratulations on one month - that is awesome!!!  I can't really offer any experience about the lump - I haven't lost any weight; only found MORE since I got clean (who knows what kind of stuff I have hidden in there!).

Seriously, I do think that a bit of anxiety and obsessing is normal right now (I definitely do it).  It sounds like it's probably fine based on the posts above, but if you CANT let it go then I would get to the doctor and check it out before you drive yourself crazy!  Good luck . .. . and again - great job on the 1 month clean :))

Hey Chad. Congrats on your Big 1 month clean. It's natural to notice all sorts of new things during PAWS that we may have been masking/ignoring while self-medicating. It's also normal to be anxious, etc. during this time.
That said, I've read that sometimes people who drop weight may notice .suddenly that their Xyphoid Process is protruding. I'm no Dr. but I'd have it checked out as soon as you can just to make sure you're not in danger of perforating your liver. Please, don't stress about this - it's a remote possibility. (If you have soreness and pain there - and I don't mean from touching it - please go to the ER.) Try not to touch it so much - not because you'll do your self damage but because you're obsessing a little. Make an effort to keep yourself otherwise engaged. Hope this helps a little. Please, let us know how you're doing and keep up the great work!

Hi Chaddavis.. This post bought a smile Not for your worry but for mine.. I have lost a bunch of weight over these last years and one day I was feeling around and ran across the exact lump in the exact place. I did the same as you played with it worried it got my self so worked up over it I made a Dr. appointment.. My  Dr. said it is normal many peps have one's that poke out some I was still worried so he pulled apart his button down shirt showed me his and had me feel it lol lol sounds dirty but hubby was there :)) He said I will find a lot of bumps and lumps I did not know about as I loose weight.. As far as the worry I think most of us have a tendency to obsess about things.. I wish you well.. lesa
