I'm back

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Shortly after my last post I relapsed. I began spiraling out of control. I took my parents credit card and ran up quite a debt (that I AM going to pay back). I bought all kinds of alcohol for myself and a bunch of friends. I actually put gas in people's tanks in exchange for pain pills. I continued this rampage until last Monday when I finally owned up to the fact that I had a major problem that was bigger than me. I asked my Mom to take me to a treatment center to get help. I am currently at Brentwood Meadows, an addiction and mental health treatment center. I struggled at the beginning but the doctors provided me with medication to help with withdraws. I suffered with a lot of anxiety and depression. I have been going to meetings, group therapy, one on one therapy,A/A meetings, N/A meetings, art therapy, and activity therapy. I have been here since Monday, November 15 and I will continue to stay here until Monday, November 29. This is a great place to get help. Almost all the staff are recovering addicts and alcoholics. So when you talk to them they know what you are going through because they have been through it themselves. I have learned a lot and I look forward to learning more. I am feeling good. My anxiety and depression are down. I have a positive attitude. I'm not looking back. Also, I had missed so many days of school that they were pushing for expulsion. My Mom went to the expulsion hearing on Fri. and told my vice-principal and hearing examiner the whole story about me and where I'm at. They decided to do something that they had never done for any other student. They are going to allow me to take the GED test but instead of getting the GED, I will get the regular high school diploma. And I will be able to start college after Christmas. Ironically, I am planning on becoming a family practitioner. Anyway, I just wanted to update you on my situation and let you all know that I'm doing good and never looking back. My Dad is currently having severe pain in his hip and leg which turned out to be a pinched nerve. Other than that he is doing good. Thanks for all your prayers. They really do help.

Cody,
I've been wondering where you were at man. I am sorry to hear about your relapse. I wish you had talked to me. Remember I'm always here if you need to talk and I've been through everything you are going through. Its so hard man but I know your going to get through it. Don't be down on yourself and stay postive. Relapse is part of recovery. But you are in a good place now with good people. They will teach you the skills and tools to become the old cody. Keep it touch man and good luck in your recovery. -john

Glad to hear you are OK and that your Dad is too. I wish you the best of luck. The good thing is that you are young and are getting help now, not when you have wasted so many years like alot of us here. God Bless
