In the same boat

Well never figured it would come to this, At 56 i never thought i would be hooked on pills, but i am I have done em all, On the norco 10/325 now, taking around 9 a day, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on the pain, and how many i have on hand. My doctor is pretty free about them but he gives me 180 a month. I have a severe leg injury, then to add insult to injury i got a huge hole in my ankle that has been graphed a couple times but is still a big azz hole, i deal with it, been doing these things for 7 yrs and have lost 70lbs in the process, which is  good thing. I know i couldn't quit i my own, dont think so anyhow, I would love to get away from the strangle hold and be me again, I dont even know where to begin as far a detox, i dont know how to tell the wife and kids as they dont know the extent of this. HELP !! anyone, someone PLEASE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, thanks for letting me vent,, jake

aloha, i am on a rapid detox along with the thomas recipe. look that up cause trust me, it helps alot with the wds. im on day 4, and still have some tummy trouble , lots of craving and the mental part. day 3 yesterday was pure hell, i just wanted to die and by 8 pm my head was gonna explode. a month ago i was onn 10/325 percocets 14 or more a day. made a move to texas for my husbands job, came up here with refills only to find out no where in this state could i fill it due to the different types of pads. my dr called in norco 10/325 to help with the wds and when i called back for more his b of a nurse refuse to put him on the phone. so i sent my refill home, had it filled and mailed back and got down to 6 a day. ran out and was able to have my other dr call in some vicoden, then from 12 7.5s i got to taking 8, and now 6 but hoping today ill be taking a lesser amount. 2.5 mg off of one dose. the thomas recipe along with alot of support helps. its a recipe for cold turkey or people who are on rapid detoxes also use it. im hoping the worst is over for me cause i cant handle another yesterday. great job on wanting off. my dr and i tried many different tapers when i finally told him back home i wanted off and i failed miserabley each one. got to mabe 12 pills and couldnt handle it. but then of course percocet is alot harder to withdrawl from so me going from that to vicoden really helped. you can do it, were here for you, dont be ashamed. we are human and make mistakes. find ones who understand and willing to just be there for you. and if your spouse dont understand him ask him/her to please educate themselves. at one point i almost divorced cause my husband refused to educate himself and i began to think he was a threat to me comming off these. if your not in the rite setting with the best support its not gonna work. so again. look up the thomas recipe and continue to post. leanne

I'm in my mid-50s and fighting addiction. It can happen at any age to anyone.

I've now been clean for 24 days. You can do it too. Not always fun but you can do it.

Have you spoken with your doctor about tapering and detoxing? I urge you to ASAP.

I was reluctant to tell my wife but am very glad I did. She wasn't happy, and we have some repair work to do in our marriage, but her help and support has been invaluable.

Hi
You have come to the right place. There are a lot of caring, knowledgeable people here who can help you.

I'm currently on day 8 of a cold turkey detox from about the same amount of norco as you. I might suggest a slow taper before jumping off as this will help lessen the wd symps.

Be prepared!  This won't be easy but you can do it. I started to taper a week before I actually quit and that did help. You have to eliminate all sources and access to pills as the cravings can get intense.

The worst of the physical symps should be over in 5-6 days but the mental will be the hardest part.

YOU CAN DO THIS!  Everyone here will be cheering you on to a cleaner, better life!
