Insomnia and withdrawls

Well I wish I could say that today is day 7 however I have broke down and have taken 2 norcos within the past 3 days.  I still do consider myself doing well I am still trying.  I will continue to try ...I actually am disgusted that I have allowed myself to give in to it agien but I actually think it was good to see the difference and I do not like the way I feel while on them.  I am in a "fog"  I feel distant from my kids and reality.    My husband is also done and is on day 7 clean!!  he is having such a different experience that is making me worry.  We both are wanting to become clean and not replace one with another problem medication so this is why we have opted to stay away from a treatment facility and do this natures way.(Well..as natural as  the Thomas rec. is)  My husband has not slept for longer than 3 hours a day for the past week.  He is at his end and does not know what to do.  I do not know what to do for him.  The only thing left is to take him to a treatment facility and let them do this but this goes agienst everything.  He has gone 7 days with only the ingredients from the Thomas Rec. and the last thing he wants to see happen is go there and let them dope him up on the same type of things that got us into this mess.  Has anybody else had a similiar experience with the insomnia?  He also tried "tappering" with a fenynol patch truely thinking this would help him get away from the norco.  On day 3 he took it off and went cold turkey from there.  We were both taking about the same norco amounts with the only differnce I did not try the "tapper" with the fenynol patch.  I actually feel GOOD!  Still lack my energy but I can sleep at night and actually was able to fall asleep without the xanax 2 nights.  I think it helps alot that I set goals for myself like ...wash a few loads of  the kids clothes and then vaccuum and then I can take a nap.  Which I actually do not end up taking.    BUT....at 8 ish I am ready for bed.   Good luck to anybody willing to read this.

You may certainly borrow that phrase to use as you see fit.

What r u trying for sleep?  sleep is important to recovery...when we r tired we can be weak...valerian root is good...there r also safe drugs like phenergan for nausea/side effect being it will knock most out like a light and is not habit forming..most drs will call it in for a tummy virus
R u 2 going to any kind of aftercare?  also exercise helps the rls and the sleep issue..also helps depression, nrg levels and anxiety...Moving vs sitting still dwellin on how awful we feel can really help

keep posting...and hang tight

I literally tried everything when I was in WD.  Valerian root, melatonin..you name it!  For a few weeks, sleep is hard to come by.  Sleep when you feel like it, but don't force yourself to stay in bed and toss and turn.  Just get up and "try" to stay awake.  Sit in the living room instead of staying in bed.  Sometimes that makes me even more awake when I am having a hard time.  It gets so frustrating to be in bed, trying to sleep, when everyone else in the house is sound asleep...at least for me.

I would get rid of any pills like IB said.  One here...One there is not a good way to do it. That is only keeping you psychologically depending on it.

You can do this!!!  It will be over soon, but you have to put all the pills down for it to work.  Have you tried getting to an NA meeting?  It helps to get some support from people who understand!

Hugs and good luck to you!

I'm with IBKleen on a number of issues.  The 'one here, one there' approach sabotaged my efforts for over a year.  Get rid of the pills and patches.  They are the problem, not the solution.  IBKleen's comment that using fentanyl patches is over the top might be the understatement of the year!  The stuff is 80 times stronger than morphine.  You can die just coming into contact with the gel in the patch if it tears.  No fentanyl!  I know the fatigue feels like it will never end but it does.  When you were taking the pills you thought you were getting more 'feel good'  What you actually did was 'borrow feel good' from the future.  Now it's time to pay up.  I wished there was an easier way but sadly there's not.  At a week into this you both are at the brink of freedom.  Hang in there!!!

a long hot bath is a good sleep inducer...as for natural remedies as IB kleen has told you, try melatonin ... valerian root ( which also helps with anxiety )

keep the good work and good luck to both of you!

Have you tried anything "natural" for the sleep?. You can get supplements at your local pharmacy or a health food store. You may also try hot baths before bed to relax yourself.

At this point,f or both of you, I have to suggest that you get all of the drugs out of the house. The "one here and one there" is going to get you in trouble. I know it is hard but you have come this far, why take any chances. And taking Fentanyl for Norco withdrawal is off the charts dangerous. Please get those patches out of the house.

Setting goals is excellent. Keep that up. And, as I am sure it has been mentioned, you need to think about aftercare at this point. You see how hard GETTING clean is, let me tell you how hard it is to STAY clean. Think about it.
