It's me again... months after recovery!!!

I recently had to have a wisdom tooth extraction. That is NOT fun... and on top of that I developed a dry socket! Which is worse than having the extraction! To make a long story shorter, I have had difficulty becoming addicted to painkillers. I finally ... after months of addiction, kicked the habit. Before, during and after my surgical extraction my doctor prescribed me oxycodone as well as hydrocodone. Bad idea, and he knew nothing of my past addiction and I will say the medication was definately needed. However, I took them daily 4-6 times daily, just the 5mgs... for about a month. I haven't had any now for two days and I am having detox... is this normal or is this in my head! I am achy and grouchy! That is putting it nicely. I feel very fatigue and didn't think that a month of painkillers could do that at such a low dose?

sorryy you are going through this again. this post also scares me badly because just the other day i had a tooth break on me. its a bottom molar that previously had workd done on it. well the filling not only came out, but the tooth all around it did too, and broke BELOW the gumline! I dont see how it can be removed the rest of the way without CUTTING the GUM by an oral suregon.  I have no insurance at all and dont know what Im gonna do. Scared of the pain and relapse very much.

Obviously the sleeplessness is back too! I can not sleep past 2 am. And to answer the question johnnykelly asked. Yes, even though you are in an emense amount of pain, the narcotics still work on the central nervous system the same way, you feel great and on top of the world for a little bit. And about the tolerance, worried is exactly right. When I quit months ago I was taking 7-8 10 mgs. per day. This time I was only taking 5's and when I explained to the doctor that I  was getting no relief from the pain, he said I had a very high tolorance for pain meds. Although, I never mentioned to him that I have an addiction problem. By the way... how long will this d/t take me anyway, I am soooo disappointed I let this happen. I just felt like as long as I was taking as prescribed this would not happen again?

most may feel a euphoria for a day or 2 then the receptors that have been sleeping wake up and again...ur tolerence is where u were at when u quit.....if u quit at 100 mg a day it will not be long before 100 mg a day is ur dose just to feel ok...most people relapse and go to a higher dose each time they relapse...the old one just wont do it for them anymore

This is very normal. It doesn't take long to get hooked again. I hurt when you mentioned dry socket. I have had that several times. It hurts way worse then an extraction.
Good for you getting back under control.
Good to see you again, too.
