Kind of Worried, Never Tried to Detox from Roxys and Lortabs

Hey, just been looking at this Forum for the past week, got some inspiration to just go ahead and to stop being worried about the outcome, because in the end it will always be worth it.  I've been a habitual Vicodin and Lortab user for about a year now, then started making really good money and got on to "Roxys" or Roxicet, Roxicotin, not sure what the main name is.  Started getting pretty bad on those and realized I was taking about 8 30MG Roxys a day.  Started noticing the signs of addiction and realized this was way too expensive with no prescription so I had to get myself off.  It's a couple days now, I've got myself down to 1 a day and 3-4 Lortab 10Mgs a day but I need to get off everything and I'm not sure if at this point Cold Turkey or weening myself off would be the way to go.  I've weened myself down to this, but I don't know what to do even if there was no Lortab.  So I've heard about the "Thomas Recipe" and what not figured I'd ask what would be the best thing to look for or to do at home for myself.  Also, how long it might take of the symptoms of Withdrawl to go away and I might be normal. Thanks.

I know it's rough. I think that sometimes the subs just delay the process. After they wear off you still get sick. I have found it best to suffer a bit. After 5-7 days you should feel a little better. Hot baths and try some Benadryl to sleep or melatonin. I am going through the same thing and for me days 3-4  are the worst. I guess it is different for everyone though. Hang in there if you can. It ***** but it has to get better. We all know that this didn't take a week and will not end in a week , we can get through it and will be glad when it's over. I am feeling crappy as well and am struggling and have a hard time with 3 and 4 but am going to keep trying. I cannot give up, I have too much to lose. Good luck ! Don't stop trying. It will get better!

I am so glad to hear from someone who has been there. You know what I am feeling and that gives me hope. Thank goodness for the internet. I think it's great that we can talk safely and at home. I am going to try to quit at home myself and am worried about the length of time it will take. I have been struggling for a  few weeks and have to go to work in a  few days and this has caused me alot of anxiety, as you can imagine. I will hopefully start to feel a little better soon. So, thanks again. I will try to check back in and let people know how it goes. This is such a hard road to go down and I hope  that I can stay stopped. I was clean for 15 years  and went to AA and NA and it all really helped. Thanks again! Try, Try, and never give up on ourselves!,

I was on Roxy 30s for  2 years. I was using illegally and very addicted. I would use about 10 - 20 a day. Then I got in trouble and needed to detox.  Holy S$%!!   The withdrawl! It was bad. I am here to say that I made it through, It took about a month to feel normal again, and about 2 weeks of absloute Hell.  Just remember people,  Weaker peaple than you have made it through. If I did it than you will make it too. Unfortunatly, nothing you can do will help, other than use again. But you can do it .. I have been clean for 3 Years now, and dont ever even think about them anymore.  My problems are over and I am happy.  I believe peaple can and will find a way to get through it, you can , and You will get through it!!

don't give up, you should be on the downward slide.  If this is your first run with these I can tell you it will only get harder each time you try and quit.  I was doing pills for about 2 years, was able to quit for 60 days and then have been back on them for aboout 6 months now.   I am currently on day 4 w/o blues with the help of suboxone.  If you have access to more subs go back to that before giving in and going back to the blues.  Last time I quit I started day 1 half sub, days 2-4 quarter sub and then days 5-14 I took about a sixth of a sub.  After that I went to nothing and suffered very little symptoms other than the mental battle.  If you have a high strength ibuprofen, that will help with your leg pains (its an anti inflammatory).  Other than that try and drink alot of water and juices that are high in anti oxidants(grape, cranberry pomegrande).   Thank of your kid!!! You owe it to them to get off of these things!!!!
Suboxone should only produce withdrawal symptoms if you take it to soon after doing the blues.(Always wait 24 hours between pills and subs-or you will be sorry).  Hope this helps!  Remember there are plenty of other people like myself going through the same struggle.  It *****,  but it does get better!  Also you have to remove yourself from the people, places, and things that made you use (I know that sounds like rehab-but there right-that is the only way you can quit for good)

We are on day 5, still cant eat or drink very much, terrible diarreah. still feel VERY weak, cant sleep. But we are looking foward to brighter days! We are in high hopes that we can sleep, eat and function soon!!! any advice?

My Fiance is hooked on Roxy's too... He takes 2 as soon as his feet hit the floor. He was snorting them but the past few days he's been swallowing them. He came to me the other day and told me he was ready to come off but with the type of job he has he can't feel like crap, look like crap or miss work at all. I don't know what to do to help him and we don't have health insurance so we can't see a physician. He's been taking these for probably 8 months or so and he takes atleast 4-5 a day. What's the quickest way to get off of these things without horrible withdrawls? I want my children to have a great Christmas and most of all I want them to be able to grow up with their father in their lives. PLEASE help me!

my dad is hooked on pain meds. you name it, he's done it. now he's on this kick with roxy's. he cant remember anything at night, he loses his keys, wallet, ect. he cant get out of bed for more than 4 hours total a day. he was given 20 30mg roxy's on thursday and needed 10 more today (saturday). i tried to confront him about his addiction, but as usual he doesnt want to hear it. i've heard the withdraw symptoms of the roxy's are worse than heroin withdraws. is that true? i dont know how to get through to him in a way where he doesnt feel attacked (and a time where he wont forget the convo we had). me, myself, i've never been addicted to pain meds. i just smoke a little ganja here and there, so i dont really know whats going on in his mind. any suggestions? please help before its too late.

Hello                                                                                                                                             liked your post. I've been detoxing for 5 days now, i pretty much went cold turkey from doing 5-10 pills a day. I had 2 methadone to help but no blues, i feel much better but still feel edgy and haven't slept for more than 3-4 hours a night since. I'm so glad to finally be this far cause I've been telling myself i had a problem for months now. TO anyone reading this if you doing roxy's get off them and if you not don't ever start, they are way too expensive and so easy to get hooked on.

That seems a lot like what I do experience w/o the pills.  I've never had anxiety but now I have shortness of breath on the lesser pills, and can't sleep in, let alone get to sleep w/o a pill.  I can't get out of bed without a pill but that's half mental I know this now.  It's just nice to know that there are people out there that can share what they went through, which is what I'm going through: hell.  I was taking in terms of oxycodone imediate release 30mg * 8 which is 240Mg.  Now I'm down to four 10mg hydrocodone a day but I'm sick without the last one. Still don't know the schedule

Hi There,
Welcome! You are making the best decision of your life by getting off these pills! You don't even know how good, how NORMAL, you feel when all is said and done. There are a few people on here who I've seen give excellent taper schedules, and they will help you, I am sure of it. They will need to know how much your on, how long you've been on it, and how much you have left, in order to give you a taper plan. For me, cold turkey was the best for me. (I'd gone through w/d several times, trying tapering, but I always cheated and took "just one extra pill" that day, and before I knew it, I was taking 8 extra pills that day!! Anyways, I think withdrawals will be a little different, depending on the method of quitting you choose, meaning: tapering will make the withdrawals much less harsh, but you will still have them and they will last longer than going cold turkey, cuz most likely every time you taper down, you'll get more w/d. Cold turkey, however, is torture, but is over in a shorter amount of time than weaning. For me, the first 4 days were worst, but days three and four, I believe, were the worst. Day 5 I was feeling much better, less anxiety, ect and it got better from there. I think it took about 6 days for the entire physical w/d to be over for me, but the mental cravings lasted a lot longer.
Some symptoms of w/d include anxiety and restless leg syndrome, which were the worst for me, diarrhea, insomnia, agitation, bitchiness, severe depression, etc. I hope this was somewhat helpful, but trust me, there are many people here who can give you much more detailed advice than me, and they will!!
