Kind of off subject but will a DR PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME

I recently went to my Dr. and had no idea what was wrong with me. I was in UNBEARABLE PAIN almost from head to toe. I was running a high fever, throwing up, , I had a headache that literally felt like NO OTHER I had ever had... and nothing would make the pain subside or even become bearable. He had me do a urinalysis which came back positive for a Kidney infection...a bad one. He gave me a shot of antibiotics and wrote a prescription for some too when I got home. Ive been taking the antibiotics  like Im suppose to, and eating bland, drinking ALOT .. (water, Gatorade, sprite, fruit smoothies) and it took almost 2 full days, but I'm feeling ....better... I guess. Im def. not stuck in bed, and the headache has gone down a whole lot, but the whole left side (kinda under my ribcage ..front to back) even the left side on the back of my neck... hurts, not badly, but quite a bit. From what Ive heard kidney infections are extremely dangerous. Im scared Im not going to catch something that I should, a symptom of some sort, and become fatally ill. I have a 2 year old, and this whole sick mom is scaring me out of my mind. What should I do? How can I tell if its gotten worse??  Can someone please help me understand this!!! Or how long it takes to get better??? And how high is the possibility i could die?!?! Im soooo scared, ive never been sick like this before!

If your infection were severe enough to be fatal, you wouldn't be talking with us right now.  The antibiotics sound like they are helping, but it takes time.  Along with infection comes swelling and irritation to the affected kidney.  The pain you are feeling by your ribcage is your kidney.  Going up into the neck area could just be referred pain, or pain from tensing up the past 2 days.  Do you still have a fever?  If not, you are on the road to recovery.  If you are having severe nausea and unbearable pain, you may have a kidney stone? Kidney stone pain can bring the toughest of men down, they come in curled up in a fetal position. It is excruciating, unbearable pain.  Give your body time to heal.  You are doing the right thing by drinking lots of fluids. Stay hydrated, use ibuprofen for the discomfort and finish all your antibiotic.

infections are nasty. you feel it all over. but the antibiotics work quickly if they are going to work, you should start to feel better in 24 hours. and you said that you definately do feel better, just not all the way huh? well call the doc and find out what is what. and do not be scared. sounds like you caught it in plenty of time.
so our emotions can help and hurt our medical condition. try to be calm about it till the doctor can give you some answers.
you are going to call him in the morning right?

Kidney infections are incredibly miserable and painful.  I know you feel like you are going to die.  If you can wait, definately call your MD in the morning.  If not, do as Naughty suggested and go to the ER.  You could have kidney stones along with the infection.  Your kidneys are not something you want to play around with.

I hope you have a good night and feel better soon.
