LF Suboxone facts

Hi, i'm a 24 year old lupus patient.  I've been on 6 percocets per day for over a year, and 2 years before that i was on 80+mg oxycontin per day.  I feel my need for narcotics has passed, so i have been narcotic free since december 21st.  Drying out alone at home is HELL as im sure many of you know.  My question is about the drug suboxone.  A friend gave me 6 of them, and i am faitly certain that they are 8 mg pills.
Though today, day 11, is far better then day 4.  It was almost unbearable then, making now seem do-able.  I can go the distance and not try any suboxone, but i do not know how it is MEANT to be used, if i am missing out on relief along with detox, or if i should let the hell keep coming and... it will get better?  Jobless, lifeless, close to friendless, i find myself thinking about attempting suboxone relief.  I think i need to flush them before i take one.
Can anyone tell me about suboxone?  Thanks.

First as someone already stated never take someone elses drugs. I do know a little about Suboxone. My 18 year old son is taking them now. From what i have read, you are supposed to take them when your withdrawl symptoms start. You also need to be monitored, and there are certain ways to take them. The amount changes. Suboxone has helped my son tremendously, with very few withdrawl symptoms. He says it completely takes the urge for pills away. You can look up suboxone online for more info. I wish you lots of luck in your journey to being drug free.

i have rhuematiod arth ,stio arth, bursitis in both hips and one shoulder ,ibromialgia, and was recently told i have lupus as well. the pain is intense and never ending. i hurt from the time i get up to the time i finaly get to sleep. then sleep is interupted. im taking lyica(75 ml 3 tpd) hydrocodone 7.5. ( 2 tpd) metropol( 50ml 2tpd)fosamax ( once a week)naproxen(2 tpd)citroprolam(40ml 2tpd) diazapam(5mil 2 tpd) so far all ive read on this site is the pain of withdrawel. right now id sell my soul to be rid of this pain for a week. i understand the reality of narcotics being addictive but isnt it as though i have a choice be addicted  or live with the pain? ill be honest if every day has to be lived as i live it now its not worth it. im no good to myself and no goodto my family. i cant work , have no income, no social life and really my base with my family is uffering because the pain  takes away time and energy. some days it hurts to breath and ive caught myself holding my breath just so it wont hurt. the amount of pain meds ive been given isnt enough and the fact is taking one is like taking an aspirin. there is little releif and no high. and im not looking for a " high". im looking for a way to go to ball games and  maybe do some house work.i miss my job, i used to cook, i miss my walks, i miss life.and i come here hoping to find something that wil let me live life and i see another thing that will take it away!! what now folks?

I am on Suboxone. I've currently been on and off of it for the past year for heroin addiction, and honestly it a life saver for Opiate Withdrawal. My first suggestion, if you don't have take anything, don't!  But if you do and want some information about Suboxone, I'll tell you.
If the pill is a Orange round tablet with a 8 and a N on the back, it is a 8mg pill. Suboxone only works by being dissolved under your tounge. Now this is the IMPORTANT PART! Suboxone is Buprenorphine which is a Opiate, then Naltroxone which is an opiate blocker. So if you are going to take it, do NOT TAKE IT WITHIN 24 hours of last Per use, because it kicks all other opiates off the receptors sending you into instant and severe withdrawal. Not trying to scare you, it's just true, i've done it before. Also, do not swallow, put it under your tounge.  I would strongly advise visiting a Suboxone doctor (u can find one off there website) but i know what addiction is like and the tendency of just doing, so I have to least share my experience. Anyhow, after you get through this, you should type Intergroup AA on google and find a meeting in your area. They work!

I am sort of in the same boat as you are - I have lupus as well, and I've been using percocet for 5 years (though only seriously addicted for 2 years).

From what I have read, things do get better. I'll be honest and say that I'm not there myself - I have a goal to be clean come Tuesday with the start of 2008, but I *know* there must be life after this hell. As if lupus isn't bad enough, to have to deal with this addiction is truly hell. I am scared because I have severe pain in my legs.

You are on day 11 - good for you!!! I can only hope that I'll make it that far and be able to encourage others to do the same. I'd say if you've made it this far you don't need any other drugs to help with the withdrawls - take care.

First off...buying and taking drugs from a "friend" is a no-no in my book. You don't know where they came from, or if they are Suboxone.

But let's say they are. 4 isn't going to help. Suboxone is a program that should be followed closely with a doctor. It is not a street drug.

I did the program, short term, but I did it through a doctor and followed a program, as stated. I highly discourage taking them.

Even you said you "thought" they were 8 mg. I think it is dangerous.

Now I sound like my mother..........

Hi, Im no expert, but if I were you I would not take them.  You made it this far.  You are doing so good and you should be so proud of yourself!!!  If I were you, I'd flush them or give em back.  You really have come so far, why trade one problem (your just about done with the physical) for another?  Especially since your not under a doctors care for them.  If you want them as an option, its probably best to go to a doctor and be under their care for those.  I hope you the very best and good luck!!!  Remember you are doing so good and be proud of yourself!!!!  Kim
