Lack of motivation/depressio

I was addicted to Tramadol for 5 years and went off of it (tapering) and my last pill was Jan 28th. For those of you who have been successful with the recovery, how long did it take to feel "normal"? I still have no motivation and feel really depressed (am on antidepressants). I'm worried that I'll never feel right again. Please give me some advice. THanks for your time!

I believe in exercise. It does work, but it's hard to get out there and do it while your depressed. I think it speeds up the recovery time and gives your body a little jump start.
The depression pills never worked for me but the Dr.s are always willing to write another sometimes needless medication. Good luck.

It will just take time...look how long we were on these meds, i think for me in 7 months just everyday just would get better and better, with a few not so good ones...But the good ones will really out weigh the bad....
good luck

I am on Prozac and it works fo me for depression but I am also on 60mg (The max is 80).  I tried Lexapro, Paxil, Cymbalta, and something else before finding out that the Prozac worked for me.  I have had to be upped twice though.  I wish you lots of luck it takes time to find what works for you.  My best friend takes Cymbalta for severe depression, she used to have a hard time getting out of bed.  Good Luck!

I posted the exact same question last week. I've been free from tamadol since Jan. 7th. I started taking prozac as soon as I quit. I take all the vitamins, excersise, eat healthy and still feel depressed and no motivation. PPL suggested I am on the wrong AD which makes sense so next week I may switch to something else. Sometimes I just sit and do nothing for hours. I first thought it was the crappy winter weather but now its spring. I do love the way I feel when I wake up. I really think my AD needs adjusted or changed.

It takes a doctor awhile to find the correct antidrepressant for you so don't be afraid to tell your doctor that what your on isn't working for you.  Also tramadol is an opiate as well as producing serotonin.  It is hard to get off of so because it does cause so much depression.  Stick with it, it takes time.  You were taking the tramadol for a long time, so it takes awhile to get back to normal.  Good Luck!
