Leg aches anyone?

I'm now 20 days clean, and am generally feeling a heck of a lot better than at first.

However, since I began having withdrawals, I've been having continual leg aches on both legs from my knees up, in my thighs.  Has anyone else had this problem, and/or know of a remedy for this continual agony?

thx for ur help,
Kathy

These headaches aren't migranes - they start in my neck and progress up thru the back of my head - but nm - that's the reason I'm going to a new Chronic Pain Clinic and dr adverse to narcotics.  Had a killer one last nite w/no remedy, but better this a.m.

oh sara, I just had to run and take a look at "10 Foods That Will Kill Your Bikini Body‏" from MedHelp .. hahaha!

I have never had a migraine.  Is there something that triggers them like anxiety, weather etc or is it just something that springs up whenever?  My great grandma used to get them and she would throw a newspaper over her head!!!!

Kathy, can you get some Excedrin Migraine or BC or Goody's Powder?  They have the same ingredients, except the Excedrin is a tablet, and the other is powder that tastes pretty bad but works quickly!  Also, take a HOT shower followed by a cool wash cloth on your head.  Lastly, if you don't have or can't get the other meds, take 800 mg of ibuprofen or some aspirin with some coffee or a diet coke or whatever you like with caffeine.

Hope it goes away!!! I swear by the Goody's Powder!

WOW, I'm shocked and amazed by all your awesome comments.  I was just going to come back and see if anyone had a cure for headaches - I've had awful ones from the car accident I was in, but who knows, maybe salt tablets would also help.

Any other suggestions wouldn't be rejected, for sure!  Need all the help I can get in the headache area.

And sara .... I've got food in the oven, now that you mention it, lol.....

take care and thx everyone,
kathy

Kathy, I'm glad you have found some relief, I would also like to share. I know this isn't for everybody, but when I worked in the desert I would get leg pains and headaches and I found that all I needed was some salt tablets! It worked very fast and seemed to cool me down as well. I know salt isn't for everybody anymore, but back in the old days there were salt tablets in first aid kits!! So, salt tabs are at the pharmacy and dirt cheap, maybe this will help someone, even if not battling wd's. Way to go, Kathy!

HI Kathy I swear by the calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement....I had to withdrawal from methadone and it took several mo of going in and out of withdrawals constantly...I believe it helps withdrawal symptoms period not just the leg thing it seamed to cut mine down considerabley ...I would take 4 at breakfast and 4 at dinner...its the best 6$ fix walmart carys ....also try a heating pad on your legs that and the vitamins did it for me
glad your starting to get better....it was slow going for me also so hang in there it does get better I use to wish I could just move the hands of time up faster so as to get it over with but some times you just got to wait it out...good things come with time..

See, I told you!  It was a lifesaver for me.  I still use it when I have leg aches!  I have a HUGE bottle of it.  I have never taken supplements of any kind, but I am a believer now!

Glad you are better, sweetie!  YAAAAAAY!

I had my son go to the store for me and look for some of that Hylands restless leg, or any kind of meds for leg cramps, but they didn't have anything of that sort where he went here in Tucson.

So he got me a magnesium, calcium, and zinc supplement.... and omg.... I can hardly believe it.... for the first time in 22 days I DON'T HAVE LEG ACHES!

I'm starting to feel so good, except for occacional headaches and insomnia, that I feel like I'm for the first time in years, on a natural high!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Hugs to all of you... u fantastic people!

that's for sure, and i sure hope it's not 6 months - this dr had also gone thru drugs, w/d's, etc - said he had a broken spine, so he knows what i'm going thru at least... i seem to have a spurt of energy in the morning, but it wears down as the day goes along .. if i could wish for one thing, it would be more energy ... well, that and less pain

He said "can", that doesnt mean it is etched in stone.  This process is a very long one and it wears on us but having a positive attitude will make it better.  Hey one good thing tho, the runs are gone so we are improving!!!

oh gosh sarah, not quite yet... still don't feel well, but runs seem to be gone ... went to a chronic pain clinic a couple days ago and dr said w/d's can last up to 6 months ... that sounds horrid to me!

Hyland's makes stuff called Leg Cramps.  It isn't for RLS.  It is for the pain in the legs.  It has quinine in it.  Tonic water, vicki says, has quinine too.  That might be easier to find.  And yes, it can be found in some grocery stores.  I got mine at a small Wal Mart, so I would think you could find it.  And the mad/cal supplement helps pain too.  I don't use it for RLS....just the hurting!

Good luck.  Let us know if it helps!

Just wanted to make it totally clear, this is something different from RLS (restless leg syndrome)....

I plan on getting some more bananas.... could u guys please tell me which of these things, if any or all of them can be found in a regular grocery store?  I'm also disabled,
and someone has to do shopping for me (and lacks patience looking for things).  Am also nearly deaf and can't hear on phone so can't directly call stores.

thx again,
Kathy

You need a mag-cal supplement.  I still take it when my legs hurt.  I take the one from Wal Mart that has zinc in it....like 3 or 4 of them, and the leg aches magically stop!  I swear it works!

I've read on here that Hyland's brand Restless Legs work great.  I know someone who took them this week and they said they helped a lot.  Soaking in a hot tub with Epsom salts helps a lot, too.  I'm told adding the Epsom salts makes a big difference in how much the hot tubs help.
