Thanks...I have had the upset stomach only in the am but I have put on at least 10lbs so I am not to worried. My weight has alway went up and down since I was a kid. One month I may gain 20lbs and the next lose it. I am hypoglacimiec (low blood sugar) but it only bothers me when I dont eat for long periods so I have always had to have multiple meals a day. And I have noticed when I start craving I get really hungry. I feel great right now a little tired but thats b/c I didnt get in the bed till late. With that being said I dont want to change anything if I am feeling ok with the fear of throwing some thing off and starting to feel bad again. But if I start getting like I feel real bad alot I probably will try it in time just depends.
day 19 now huh? 'm onI day 28 -that's 4 full weeks for me. ?Yay for us both......Jen I have been taking the protein shakes since day 2. I know everyone's different but I have lost weight-almost 20 lbs in 4 wks-crazy-I think its because when i was on the methadone i would pretty much stay constipated-not any more!!!! I actually took immodium for the first time yesterday-things were moving through too fast. I can relate to feelings coming back.. my husband is thrilled too!! CONGRATS! TEENA
I had heard about the whey protien shakes but there are a few reasons I havent gotten it. One I dont have the money thats why I stoped the ensures. Two the weight gain I cant afford to gain anymore weight b/c then none of my clothes will fit (they are close to this point already) and I dont have the money to buy more. As for the upset stomach it is only in the morning as the day goes on it goes away so it isnt that bad. I still get the cold sweats only at night really tho. And for the feelings yes I have started to get alot of them back. The methadone really messed with my sex drive alot and coming off of it I realized just how much it did mess with it. Things are starting to get normal again. Today was the first day that I was able to get out of bed and actually do something with out feeling totally drained. My husband is loving all of these things b/c he likes to stay on the go. Before I thought i had to have the methadone to get out of bed and now I am seeing that I didnt. I am having to retrain my thinking but it is all worth it in the end. Thank you for being so suportive it has helped alot.
I detoxed off methadone over a year ago. I did it by myself, at home. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. It was painful and miserable. No sleep, diarhea, leg cramps, skin sensitivity, cold chills and everything else. Absolute HELL. However... although it seemed it would last forever, it did not. Like you, I slowly started to feel again. In fact I remember the first time I laughed in years. It was truly amazing. Now I laugh everyday. I have been clean for over a year now and still can't believe how much happier I am. I'm not special, you can get there too. Even though It's been over a year I'm still rebuilding my life. I notice positive changes in myself nearly everyday. I can't believe I can say this, but I actually feel like a "normal" person. That's a great feeling. Pretty much I'm here to say, you can do this! And it will be soooo amazing when you start feeling better!!! You're going to re-meet an amazing person... yourself! Good luck with everything!
HI Jenn I agree your doing great theres a reason for the whey protein shakes they contain essential amino acids as well as vitamins along with the protein all of witch the brain needs to heal you can get a 2lb can up at walmart for 15 bucks the chocolate flavor is good and all you do is mix it with milk drink 2 a day it will give your brain what it craves and you will heal that much faster...when I came off methadone it was a long grind I found out about the whey protein from another member....once I started on them things started to turn around this is cheep insurance that you will get well....keep posting you are healing and there are always lingering symptoms with methadone post withdrawal ....hang in there.....Gnarly
Thank you to everyone. As for the protien shake I didnt drink those but I was drinking the ensure. I stoped just a few days ago. As for the vitamns I took a bunch in the begining but they made me not want to eat and completely stoped me up. So slowly I stoped taking them one by so that if I felt like I still needed one of them then I would know which one. But I still drink alot of juices and a antioxedent every 3 days b/c they make me sick if I take them every day. Other then that I take 2 gabapentin every night, I was taking 4. These help me sleep and I think they help with the withdrawals at night b/c that is when I get very uneasy. Also during the day if I feel like I have no energy at all and I have to go get my husband from work then I will drink a energy shot from our Mapco. Thats what has seemed to work so far. As for the upset stomache it seems to come in waves
Congrats on the clean time.....I detoxed off of methadone about 9 months ago....You are doing exceptionally well and I have been following your progress...To be feeling this good after only 18 days says that you are doing something right! If you are taking vitamins and suppliments keep taking them....If you have not already been told protein powder is crutial especially for methadone withdrawal....It really helps out considerably and you get some extra water down you at the same time....I drink one in the morning and one at night....anyways, congrats.....keep going....and you are doing fantastic!!!!
Jennifer- Good for you! Have you tried Pepto bismal for your stomach? Or Immodium?
That will help...
