Hi everyone..
Just wanted to ask....did any of you folk experience memory loss during your using of opiates, and even getting clean.  I realize what damage I have done to my brain, and I'm scared my short term memory and concentration won't return!!  Thank you..

Have I ever! The push to me to stop was I couldn't remember if I turned water on at sink at work while water was cut off resulting in flood when water was turned back on. Then during detox I got worse. But now its starting to get better. My thinking is so much clearer. I thought I'd damaged my brain and I'm sure I did but not to the level I thought. Its all part of the process. You have not done the damage you think you have. It takes time to heal. Just be patient with yourself. I'll never forget the look on Hubby's face when I got lost in our own yard. Duuh.

This post reminded me when I had 6 months in. I had to see a Head Dr one time only..He gave me all these test and I could not remember what he said to me to repeat back and when I had to put some dots to dots together. OMG! I was SO scared and thought I was a goner. He just smiled at me and told me there is nothing wrong that time will not heal..He said that do to my Years of drug use it will take up to a Year or Two for the Brain to all balance back. My he was SO right,,lol TIME & PATIENCE DEAR!

I kind of wish there were some things I could forget!  LOL, Like the amount of $$ that I freakin wasted!!!!!
In all seriousness, I believe the fast paced life we were trying to live while doing opiates is bound to make us forget lots of things....we were doing too much!  One thing I have heard over and over again is The Brain Needs Time To Heal....give it time.  Not days.....REAL TIME! Good luck!

Absolutely! I did experience that. It gets better with time and healing. Protein packed foods and vit C will help, as will crosswords and puzzles. Yes there is damage. That's what these drugs do. I'm sorry I forget what I was talking about! What was your question??
