Metallic taste and smell

Hello all I was wondering if anyone has experienced a metallic taste and smell after quitting the opiates. A little background I was hit by a drunk driver and suffered a fractured femur and total hip replacement was on percocet 10 mg for 5 years needless to say I was taking more than prescribed because I was up to 20 a day. I decided I was tired and through with it so I did cold turkey( which I thought I was dying) 21 days ago and most everything is ok except for still no energy and this strong metallic taste and smell so any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Thank you so much for answering so fast I honestly thought I was just imagining it so do you think maybe hitting the steam room and sweating will help remove any of it.

Metallic taste is very normal and could take months to get out of your system completely. Part of this is because of the additives they add to pain killers. A lot of that pill is not just the opiate and those additives can stay in your system a long time and even cause other issues. Your body has been poisoned and even your brain is not going to function right for a while. The things this does to your body is honestly amazing. There are so many things people don't know. Drink lots of water, you want to get the toxins out of your body and they store in fat cells and in organs so it won't happen fast. Doctors tell you the drug is out of your system in a few days but they don't tell you that the other stuff stores in your body for a long time. Any form of antioxidant will help you get through this faster. Eat lots of fresh veges and fruits as well. Do not buy preserved or processed foods and stay away from meats with hormones. An organic natural diet is the main focus, doesn't mean you can't have a burger or something from time to time but try to avoid it. Exercise, that sounds ridiculous when you feel like crapt but believe me it does help. Even if you just walk for 20 minutes. Keep up the good work! Best of luck to you!
