Metamucil

How would you interpret adults joking about needing "metamucil shots" in anticipating a 50th birthday party bash at a pub.  Not sure where to post this but I thought it might be drug talk.

Age related joke, as others have mentioned.  Taking a "hit" would likely mean of the shot (liquid).  Metamucil is a powdered fiber put into juice or water, made to keep constipation at bay.  It's historically known as an "old person" thing, hence the remarks at someone's 50th b-day party.

Is there some reason you would suspect a drug-related remark?

Maybe they are just trying to make someone laugh..We all have some goofy moments..It if it hurts then tell them..I have heard a lot worse then that growing up with older people..Most of them are gone now and I am there age...

I should have added that someone responded, "Take a hit and pass it down."  Doesn't a "hit" refer to drugs or marijuana?

Not drug talk at all.  They are just referring to this person getting "old" and metamucil keeps people regular!!!  It is usually given to the elderly and i am referring to the elderly as 95 and older!

I'm not sure about that being drug talk.  Most people as they get older seem to become constipated.
