Methadone for 10 yrs

I got on the methadone to get off the heroin. Well 10 yrs later, I'm off the heroin and strung out like a dog on 180mgs of meth. So I've decided to detox. I'm going down 5mg a month. When I got to 25mg, I got so sick that I couldn't do anything and they brought me back up to 40mg. So here I sit on 40mg, paying the clinic 200.00 a month and I can't get off the last 40mg. Our financial situation has changed from owning our own business & home to selling the business & losing our home. My husband is also on meth but has no desire to ever get off. He's on disability & I'm not working at the time & can't afford this program any more. I'm on waiting lists to get on state programs but I really just want off this meth. Can I go to a private doc to help me? I have a very limited insurance through the state. Any idea's of what I can do next? Thanks!

    I dont no about IL but here in NC we have state supported programs to help addicts.  You might try going to state funded places like health department, social services, or mental health we are sick people trying to get better they should have substance abuse counselors available to help you with meth or other meds you might need to kick meth.  A good support group also will help in finding a place that you can go to for help.

Hi, I don't have experience with meth but a lot of posters do, especially Gnarly. He is an expert.
Someone will come along to give you some good advice. It's great that you want to be free of drugs. It's hard dealing with wanting to come off the drugs and being financially broke. There has to be a dr out there who will help you. Not sure where you live but it's great that you came to this forum. You will get a lot of support here.
