Methadone withdrawal

A dr increased my Clonidine which helped a little and I have an appointment with someone in chemical dependency on Thursday. I hope this time they will help me get off this stuff. My regular dr admitted he did not know how or what to do to help but would not get out of the way for the detox dr to help. He was concerned with pain and wants to get be hooked on oxicodone then taper off that. I think that is just crazy . Every morning I wake after mabe a couple hours sleep with horrible anxiety shaking and nausea. Sometimes around 3 pm I might feel some relief. I mostly just read this site hanging on praying. I am still on 1.5 ml 4 xs a day. Can't seem to go down any farther without going completely insane. Would like feedback and support.

Did you totally stop the methadone?
You are staying in the hospital to detox?
Buprenophrine is protocol for many detox centers-
It us suboxone. Basically like methadone, used to detox off other opiates.
You need to find out if they will keep you on it when you leave there?
If so for how long will you take it?

do you think because of your heart issues you would be best going to an inpatient treatment facility where you can be monitored???

maybe your doc can increase the clonidine?

you are going to feel crappy lowering the dose anyway, may be best to just get it over with.  at least then you can start counting your clean time and know it will end sooner.  idk.  hope you figure something out that works for you.  seems like many torture themselves while tapering and have the exact same withdrawals as they would have by just stopping it.

it is not the preferred way, but it is not uncommon for doctors to prescribe something like vicodin to help in the first week or so.  even neurotin.  benzo for ONLY a few days to a week at max.

My dr said to lower by .5 ml. Couldnt handle it she also told me to lower clonidine to .1 mg a day in patch form. I lowered one dose and BP WENT to 200/168 with a 157 pulse . So I took a clonidine and in about an hour was back down. I don't think the Dr realized I have been taking .1 mg 6 times a day. Really thought I was going to die. Also the mental anguish came back fom lowering the methadone way to fast. I will ak to just go 1 ml wait 3 days and if not too sick lower another 1 ml. I had to put my ogbon a kennel can't take care of his needs with my heart jumping ll around.

And how much time in between drops?

Lily I am happy for you that you will be seeing someone on Thursday to help with your detox.
It is imperative that you get some nutrients in your body to help build yourself up during the detox.
You will have to go much slower and drop smaller doses for the last 12mgs.
Please let us know how you are doing.
Praying for your healing,
Debbie

Vitamins and good nutrition.

If you get a juicer, I promise it is the best investment you will ever make (especially with your MS)
Our guts don't absorb nutrients properly especially during detox and if you juice you are getting the MOST nutrition possible.
Think about it as main-lining vitamins.
You don't have to qualify to get aftercare.  Na/AA are available to you for free, as is SMART recovery and Celebrate Recovery- just google them and find a meeting or two in your area.
You were prescribed methadone for chronic pain and I'm sorry about that.  As a fellow chronic pain patient and autoimmune disease patient, I understand.  I've had so many doctors offer methadone and am so happy that I knew enough to not go down that road.  I'm sorry this is happening.
We are sick and desperate, and just want to live our lives normally.  Unfortunately, opiate use over time is not living, as you have discovered.
Know that you can do this, know that it won't be easy but SO worth it in the end.
You are worth it.

Bless,
Lu

Thank you. I am doing this without support. The chemical dependant department said I don't qualify for their meetings or program cause a Dr prescribed this horrible medicine and I have only taken it as prescribed but have managed to taper down to this level on my own but now feel stuck. I am suffering 24/7. I am scared. They gave me another appt with the chemical detox on Thursday I am afraid they are going to turn me away again. I have multiple sclerosis but my life was so much better before they gave me methadone. I need my life back I am losing weight and bp pulse racing that's why they gave me .1 clonidine 6 times a day.

Hi..Well YOU have to really want this and you can not do this alone. Are you getting any out side support like group meetings?

I got my Methadone, that was prescribed for pain, down to between 30-60mg and jumped off. I also was doing 2 other meds with it. It was not a easy detox but it was worth it in the long run..In fact by getting off all drugs I am alive today.

Right now just keep drinking LOTS of fluids to flush this out. Eat very Healthy and take some good vit/min..This way you can help build your immune system up before the final jump.

When you are completly off then we sure will work with you. They usually use the Clonidine after you are off the meds. This med is a light BP med and it helps the Heart not pump so fast & hard and also slows things down a bit like Anxiety..Most can only take it at night. Just keep on going down and DO NOT be afraid. YOU are doing a slow taper and that should make it not as long and intense. The detox is the easy part, it is working on staying clean that takes the cake..Make sure you get into some kind of aftercare..I wish you the best and just go with the flow. It will get better & better when you are off the stuff. It does take time and patience for your Brain hormones/chems to readjust back from the removal of these types of drugs. Good Luck!
