Methadone withdrawals what helps and what doesn't

hello everyone I am a 29 yr old mom that has been adicted to something since I was 17. I went to the methadone clinic for almost 2 years. I was up to 110mg at my highest dose. The last time I went to the clinic was 3 weeks ago and I was at 70 mgs. I jumped down to 40mg with no problem. I stayed at 20mg for about 5 days and felt fine and was at 10mg for only 2 days. I am now just a few hours shy of 48 hours without anything. I felt rough yesterday but was able to get thru most of the day without problems. Last night I took a clonidine 0.1mg and was able to sleep for 15 hours straight. When I woke up I felt great for a hour and a half then as the day went on I felt worse and worse. I cant sleep all the time b/c of my son and husband. My thing is I need to know when I will be able to sit in a car and drive without the pain? I hear that taking all of these vitamins help is this true?

Yes suboxone can help you get off of methadone but I have heard that coming off it can be as bad as the methadone. I would just suggest just lowering the methadone as far as you can. Then come off of it.

Just to let everyone know that is following this. I finally was able to drag myself out of the recliner about 430pm today. The family and I all went on a 1 mile hike on a 40% slope(there were 434 stair steps included in the hike) to see some absolutely beatifull waterfalls (pics will be on my profile soon) then we went to another trail and walked about another 1/2 mile before the sunset. I felt great on the hike and actually 10 times better. I am now home and have been here for a little while and I am just starting to feel a little pain again but nothing like what I was feeling before we left. So for everyone that may read this WALK,WALK,WALK it will make you feel better once you get started. Hopefully the future will bring more days like this.

So that part want be to bad and the hubby will help me even tho I feel like it is my job to keep the house clean b/c I am a stay at home mom. But I think I am going to get out and go to Cloudland Canyon here in GA (close to me I am in AL but go by ET) and walk a little and enjoy the beatifull scenery. Oh yeah and I have this god awfull taste in my mouth have you ever heard of that?

I went last night and got some vit. C and antioxidents and a womens multi vitamn for seniors(b/c it had more vitamns then the rest of them) and I also got some ensure (I like the chocolate). And your right this morning I woke up wide awake at 4am and took another clonidine to get some more rest. I woke up a few hours later thanks to my 10 year old son and I felt like CRAP I didnt want to move but knew I had to. I made it to the living room and started takeing some vitmans and drinking juices(apple, white grape and OJ) today my head has started to hurt but not to bad. I am going to try to make myself get up and go walking a little today not sure of how far I will get but some thing is better then nothing. Also I wanted to ask you how long does the painfull part last (leg/back pain and headaches)? The rest of the stuff I can deal with. I think the only reason I am handling this as well as I am is the fact I had contractions with all 3 of my boys for months prior to giving birth and that pain feels just like what I am going thru.

Well I got out of the house today the hubby and I went by walmart and got some herbal supplements. Then we went for a walk at the local park. I felt good when I started but n the end I was starting to hurt and then BAM it hit me like a ton of bricks I was hungray. So we went to Long John Silvers and I ate like there was on tomorrow. After I ate I felt sick for a little while then I fell asleep in the car on the way home. My head is killing me along with my feet and legs. But I think my legs hurt from walking. That is some thing I am not used to. At this point I hope tomorrow brings a better day.

thanks my head feels a little swimy and my stomach is now upset so I guess its time for the imodium. Other then that oh yeah and my legs feel like noodles but I feel good for the most part. I feel for you having to do all that work and come off this but that just goes to show that it can be done with will power. THANK YOU

I'm glad you felt a little better.  When I had my worst day I had to deal with it.  Along with taking care of three little kids.  A 3 month old, a 17 month old, and a 5 year old.  It was rough.  That evening when everybody went to sleep I took a 800mg. Ib profuen and 3-300mg. gabapentin.  I slept pretty well and woke up and felt 100 times better.  It worked for me and I just keep feeling better and better everyday.  I hope this helps.  Stay strong and you can get through it.

ok I am at 55hours and after taking a combo of pills I feel good. I am a little sick at my stomach but I can tolerate that. All tho I can really feel that caffine in the herbal supplement that I took. I took 2 of them (it is listed above) I took 2 500mg Naproxens and 1 gabapentin 300mg and 1 methocarbomal 750mg. The only reason I took the last 2 together is b/c that is the way the dr had perscribed them. I hope that maybe this will help someone.

I did look them up before taking them and it said it was used for nerve pain sorry typo there. I have had back pain before and now looking back it was more then likely due from the pill usage. I honestly am not a vitamn person either but at this point I am willing to try anything. I went ahead and took a few of the vit.'s and a few iron pills and one methocarbamol. It seemed to help a little I know I got a big burst of energy from it but that is the caffine in the vit. supplement. The only down side I feel to it is my stomach is kinda sick mostly from not eating much I am sure. But I have been forcing down the juices even if it is just a sip here and there. I am suposed to go to church with my father in law tomorrow and I am just trying to find a way to make that possible as they don't know what is going on. I have already told my husband I dont really see us making it tomorrow but he hasn't said anything about it. Then we are suposed to be at my moms on sunday to help work but I have told her that I dont feel good but she doesnt seem to care she just wants the work done.

Be careful with the Gabapentin. It is not a muscle relaxer. There is also a possibility of seizures from it so please be careful. Read up on it before taking it, if at all.

I am not a vitamin/mineral person (shame on me) so I can't help you with any of those but other members can chime in. I just wanted to make sure that you do your homework on anything you are taking.

I wish you the best.

Well I got up this morning and like everyone said I felt worse then yesterday. But I have been drinking alot of juices and plan on going to get some vitamns today. I have been takin naproxen and a 1/2 of a 0.1mg clonidine to help. It helped alot last niht but not that much today. I am up to hour 52 1/2. I just keep telling myself this is temporary and I want feel this way forever and that seems to keep me going at this point. But I will tell you this I will NEVER touch another pill. This is horrible I was hooked to hydros a few years back and came off of them in 12hrs after taking 120 of the 10s  every week and a half for a few years. I will keep everyone updated on how I am coping. I have heard that I need to take 1,000mg of Vit. C two times a day and B-Complex(not sure how often tho) a multi Vit. and anti-oxident but not sure on how much and how often. If someone could help on that I would be thank full.

there are things that can help, make sure you drink plenty of fluids, such as gatorade, a calcium/ magnesium supplement can also help, take some imodium for any stomache cramps etc, how long withdrawal lasts varies from person to person, in general by day 5/6 you should start to feel a bit better, keep posting to tell us how your doing, god bless    sudie
