Mixing Methadone and Oxy.

I have always been an advocate for methadone.  Methadone is what got me sober.  However, I lost a friend this weekend after he mixed methadone and Oxy.  It had turned my world inside out as I know he didn't take much of either.  Plus he wasn't even ADDICTED to oxy, he just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.. How much of each is needed to create an overdose??? This has been awful.

im not sure how long ago you posted your question about ultram but i do know the answer to that. Ultram is actualy not an opiat drug it acts as one though. It would be much better to take than hydrocodone or any other pain med for that matter. I was on them for a long time and they helped me a lot with my cronic pain and this was after being an addict for over ten years. I took very strong medications like methadone and oxycotin, fentynol, opana, about anything an everything you could think of an ultra actualy still worked for me after taking all those other opiate drugs. good luck. To answer original question. I take about 2 40mgs OC's per day to get high and then take about 2 10mg methadones at night while I work to control the withdraw symptoms caused by the OC's. I sometimes get chest pains when I take the methadone and wondered if combining the drugs was putting a lot of stress on my heart. I'm relieved that these two drugs mixed together do not have a reputation for being deadly. But I would still be careful because I am just a recreational user and these chest pains have to be a sign of something. FYI I was taking narcotics long before I started using this combination on a daily basis.

hey goforyourdreams, I am not sure if this will help but here is my story. I was physically and mentally dependant on morphine a couple of years ago. I was surrounded by the drug in my hometown and had easy access. I had to go to college oneday and could only take a couple of morphine 60mgs with me. I knew I was going to be in trouble but I broke the pills down into little pieces and just kept lowering my dose until I took about an 8th of a 60mg pill one day. After that day there was some mild withdraw but nothing like trying to quit cold turkey. This whole process took me between 4-6 weeks and I was clean from narcotics. Unfortunately when I went back to hometown I could not resist the temptation of going back to that feeling and I'm back to where I started. But, I do not have a family to support or anything. Maybe if you use for family for motivation you can have the willpower to stay clean. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I am prescribed 75mg of oxycodone (not oxycontin so its not time release) every month, tho, those 2.5 30mg pills/day don't last. It has gotten worse with the loss of my mother a few months back. This month I find myself 18 days from my refill with 24 pills left. I used to b ok on one a day til I herniated a disc. Now, about 3 control the pain, but sometimes I take up to 7. Anyway, hubby has ten 20mg methadone tablets. I'm wondering if I can take one roxy when I wake up and a methadone in the afternoon. Will it work or do the drugs cancel each other out? Last thing I wanna do is waste any meds. I really need to get my poop together. Every month hubby gets frustrated, and now that my father has given me access to his money I've been spending a lot after I run out of oxys. I cannot keep buying 500/month of norco anymore. I want to make the month without spending one dime and I know I can with these meds but what's the best way to use what I have for max pain mgmt and to avoid withdrawals? If I can I wanna wait 3 xtra days to go to doc cause instead of going the fri before, 2 days early, I can do the mon which is a day late and which the doc would prefer. Ty in advance for the advice.

i know this perticular forum is for the info of methdones and oxy, and as described by another member it was a overdose, they could not handle it, 40 mg dones were ttaken off the market also taken with xanax is deadly no matter your tolerence.  The thing is all the talk about hydro u will soon be on twice the amount or looking for herion and loosin ur jobs, i believe cancer patients should be the only people prescribe regularly, if you dont have cancer you dont care, unless after all said and done(the relaxation fun happyness then the horible WDs) u enjoid urself  iam 25 and have had a late start in life becasue addiction,  IAM TRULY SORRY FOR THE ONES THAT TAKE THE PILL TO MAYBE HAVE FUN AND WITH SO MUCH ON THE MARKET ALMOST ANYTHING CAN BE DEADLY,,Iam truly sorry for you loss.

one last thing i take around 10 pills a day of oc every  a t  my werst time, yes that is abuse, to add to my prob but if i have to use it to save 1 life lock me up.neways its worth it to me....  1 10mg methadone would take the place if i didnt have any thing so to put in perspective to people who need to know its like takin 10 30mg or 40mg  OC pills very dangerous,
