Muscle tension and shaking

Do or did any of you have a lot of muscle tension and
shaking after coming off opiates? If you did how
long did it last? Is this considered part of anxiety?
It seems the more I try to concentrate on trying to be productive
the more I shake. If you wodering did I have this before the
pain med, the answer is no.
Need some feed back please

Oh my yes...the shaking!  I had it pretty bad for a month or two, and now, 9 months plus clean, I still get twitching ALL THE TIME.

We don't fully appreciate how powerful these opiates are and the tremendous effect they have on re-wiring our neuronal pathways in the brain until we STOP taking them.

The human body is an amazing machine.  When I started taking oxycodone for pain, my body, after a surprisingly short while, decided "ok, this the new normal for Robin" and adjusted accordingly, unfortunately.

We get addicted fairly quickly, but recovery seems to take much longer.   Doesn't see fair, huh?

You're doing great; hang in there!

Hugs,
-Robin

TMJ!  I also think that's my problem.  On day 14 of no Oxy after 2 years of at least 90 my/day.  Might be the cause of my severe headache and ears ringing that is making me check out of the world right now.  I do have cancer that affects my bones, but the TMJ is almost unbearable.  Mine started 6 weeks ago, before I got off oxy.  Stress?
Have you tried visual imagery?  I do that every day.  Might help you relax which might help that jaw clenching up.  Deep breathing for relaxation.  It helps me a little.  Ice on your jaws might help.
I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for all the answers. Im 103 days out. Just wondered about the shaking. I take 300mgs of Neurontin, Brane, and wouldn't be taking any if it wasn't for the screwed up mess that happened at the DENTAL Appointment I had last year. I just found out when I quit the Norco, just what people were talking about, when they talk about TMJ.  Omg, it is debilitating.  Its unreal, that someone can go for a dental or surgical appt. and come out worse than when you went in.

Thanks again for the support I
appreciate it.

All normal. No quick fix, just time. From my own experience - you will be surprised at how much you can endure. You won't like it but it's manageable.

Hi Chig. As you already know I still shake. Not just in my hands but like there is a little engine in me sending this vibration through me. I'm still thinking about the Neurotin thought. If you take to much of to or STOP it c/t you will shake!

This is a very common side effect to detoxing.  How long has it been since you've used any opiates

Hey, Chig. I remember during detox feeling very shaky all the time. Yes, that is part of detox. You are a few months clean now though right? Anxiety still does take a looong time to manage post using. We are so used to numbing everything, that when anxiety comes, it hits w/ a freight train. Do you work out? Something we gotta do every day, even only a little. That will help significantly. I would avoid caffeine for now as well.
