Music & Detox

OK so the day is finally here!! I'll be taking my last Norco this evening and can't WAIT!! But just a quick ? for everyone has music helped during your detox process? Like right now although of course not clean yet it still makes me so happy and gives me a little burst of energy listening to almost anything. So what are your thoughts??? I'll drive my neighbors crazy for a few days if it helps :)

Depends, I play guitar but I find it hard to play when my body (especially my hands) are sore, as they are right now.  Certain kinds of music can elevate my mood when I'm feeling low, definitely try to stay away from the party music of my youth but smooth jazz seems to work.

Love it. Crave it.

There's nothing that gets my endorphins working faster or harder than good music. Right now, I'm relying more on TV because my husband is home and when I've got music on, I sing along. No need for him to suffer, too. LOL

I found that it helped after about day 4, but prior to that I really needed more of a complete audio and visual distraction. Relaxation wasn't in the cards for me. Good luck. It will be over before you know it. Hundreds of us have gone through detox and are now living a life without pills. We are here for you.

MOST DEFINITELY!  Especially when the weepy depression hits. The urge to cry always hit me when there were people around, so I'd make an excuse to run an errand, Get in the car, crank up a country song and wail my little eyes out. I swear it helped me release endorphins and felt soooo cleaning. Then as that phase passed, I used music to calm my nerves while in the tub and before bed. I saved my detoxing butt huge!!!

A lot of people said music helped.   I am such an old fogy, I listen to talk radio all the time, so I am sure that is what I did....and I probably watched cooking shows on PBS....because that is what I do anyway.   If music is your thing though, I am sure it would help.   Oh, I also spent a lot of time looking at saddle mules for sale on the internet....because I vowed that this fall, I am going to buy a mule and start riding again.

Some say it helps. FOr me personally all i wanted to do was watch TV, until about day 15, then I started enjoying music. I am now at day 47 I think, and I listen every day.

I did listen to medication CD's in the dark hours of WD and it helped.

Congrats on your smart decision to quit. We will be here for you, just a click away.

hugs,
Lily
