Music to my ears!

Not sure if I should post this or not....but I just heard a song on t.v. that made me get chills, smile, and cry all at the same time.  I have always believed that there is a song for every event and feeling in life.  I think I just heard the one that fits this time in my life and I think maybe for some of you.  A contestant from a "singing" show from last year recorded a new single.  Danny Gokey "My best days are ahead of me."

Hope you enjoy it too!

I'm very glad you posted that as I often use music for life events!  When I quit my Darvocet addiction 8 months ago I heard for the first time 'You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins and instantly made it my new 'clean life theme song'. When I slipped a couple times I would not allow myself to listen to it and when it would play by accident next on my custom made CD, I would feel shame/guilt. After being clean again for a while I would play it, during the chorus tears of joy would come, I'd dance and throw my fists in the air in celebration (out the sunroof while driving), feel and picture myself just like Rocky at the top of the steps...Yes! Yes!
It goes perfectly with a powerful phsyc excersie I learned years ago where you separate your inner child that loves to play and unsafely at times from your 'Wise Adult' that loves to see him play but keeps him safe from harm. If I get the urge to use (child playing unsafely), I imagine the powerful chorus 'You'll Be In My Heart' as the 'Wise Adult' saying 'Youre always in my heart, I'm right here and I'll keep you from harm'
It also reminds me that "The Divine Human Spirit Is Far More Powerful Than Any Drug"
I'm off to I-tunes to try and find your song, give mine a try and thanks much.

Glad you all enjoyed it as much as me.  There are two other ones that I like.  And for me....they are both the blast them in the car and sing at the top of my lungs songs!  One is by Creed called "Higher"...(ironic title isn't it??)  But the lyrics are so meaningful to me.  The other song is by Chris Daughtry called "It's not over."

I am definitely going to listen to yours!  I would also love to learn more about the psych exercise that you are talking about.  Sounds very helpful!

Nothing like a good song that really hits home........the kind that makes you cry when you sing it while smiling inside!!  Better than any drug!
