Day 8...Seroquel

Hello all. Finished day 7 (One week Yahoo!!) this morning at 11:00. Today, I feel like ****, but I think it's because of the Seroquel 25mg I took last night. NEVER AGAIN! It made me feel worse anxiety than I had, and then I went to sleep like a log. But, I've had the whole underwater feeling all day. This is some weird stuff (for me anyway...my Mom takes it and it's helped her immensely). Still looking for energy and an end to this anxiety (bought some Hyland's Calms, maybe this will help). Things are getting better. I credit the clonidine for me personally having such an easier time than normal. Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with Hyland's Calms or Seroquel??

I took Seroquel while in detox 600 mg at night, it was supposed to help me sleep but did nothing. I was sent home with instructions to continue taking it, lasted 3 more days, and the rest went in the trash. I think it increased my anxiety(and my heart rate was ridiculously fast) I also didn't like the long list of possible side effects...not worth the risk, especially if it seemingly did nothing, anyway.

The seroquel is a dopamine inhibitor - - most of us addicts are dopamine deficient........I tried to take the seroquel as directed and quit after 3 days - - -  For that one I would prefer to have the affliction as opposed to the therapy.  I am using trazadone now for sleep - - its along the line of benadryl - - its an antihystamine that makes you drowsy - - -  working just fine....

Hello.  It looks like seroquel is not considered a very "serious" drug.  But people who are not diagnosed with the illnesses that seroquel successfully treats — bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective — won't find it very effective.  It's an atypical antipsychotic, along the lines of resperidal.  I take 300-400mg seroquel a night, along with six other bp drugs in a 24-hour period.  I recently ran out of seroquel and experienced some withdrawal (lottsa puking) which some would say is not possible because it's not a controlled substance.  eh, go figure.  shawn

I started taking Seroquel last year after my boyfriend committed suicide on our vacation...
My shrink prescribed it along with xanax for sleep.  boy, did I sleep...like wake up with the lights on in the morning in the same position in bed sleep.
I only could tolerate 25mg, but it did help me sleep like a baby...only, more comatose.
In combination with xanax I do believe I could sleep through a freight train going  past my house.
I recently gave up the Seroquel and can't even remember why although I'm sure it had to do with the space cadet feeling I would have from time to time---and the fact that I could barely put together coherent sentences after about 30 min from taking it.  Plus, I remember feeling "dumb" during meetings at work---like i wasn't on top of my game---could have been many things, but I felt like Seroquel was the strongest of the drugs prescribed and therefore the most likely culprit of stealing my wit and creativity.
Now, I still take my xanax and wish to goodness I could get off that--my sleeping problems started 10 years ago...there used to be a time not too long ago I could take a xanax and then not need one for two weeks...now, I just fall asleep and wake up every hour, no matter how much kava kava, passion flower, hops, chammomile, or whatever kind of herbal concoction I whip up.
My doctor says it's b.c. of the GABA receptors in my brain and too much adrenaline----the xanax and seroquel bind to those receptors and help the brain shut down and go to sleep.
Never had any problems with weight gain or making my hungry...but then again, I'm kind of like a person who can always be hungry, and have a snack...so not sure if that is a good measure.
Still researching how to do it naturally without xanax----if anyone has had any luck, please let me know.

Thanks!
Betsy

Yeah, I've heard that the weight gain thing was a side effect (something I don't need, I already crave sweets like crazy).
