Congrats on day 4 !! Glad the physical is over.. the insomnia does suck but like everyone said getting outside and just walking for a bit goes a long way in lifting the mood... I found I needed something to do besides walk so I picked up a hobby of photography. took my mind off myself and helped to stop the cravings.. It turned out very well and something I still do.. maybe you can find something that will capture your interest ? sometimes we have to replace the time we spent thinking and taking our drugs with something healthier.. I wish you well.. lesa
Congrats on 4 days!! Get out and get some fresh air and walk a bit. I used to just walk around my house and then would sit outside with a blanket in the sun. It was heaven!! sara
Congrats on the four days!! Walking is an awesome thing to do. Get outside, freshair, take some time to enjoy what's going on around you. Keep coming here and sharing with us. We are glad you are here.
Try and do things or hobbies that you enjoy. Maybe try out some new hobbies. You know when you find something new that you enjoy? You can't wait til you're off work just to get home in order to continuing that new hobby. There are so many activities out there that it can be easy to overlook some. Have you thought about photography? It would get out and about. It adds to a nature walk because you will be looking hard for animals or certain scenes to snap a picture of. There's also scrapbooking. Or how about jigsaw puzzles? Once the puzzles are done you could glue them, frame them and hang them on the wall. Maybe take some sort of hobby class on a local college. They offer art, painting, woodworking, etc. You just have to think about what you like and think of things similar that you may enjoy doing.
I know you don't have the energy to exercise but you have to force yourself. Exercise is one of the most important things you can do to get your mind and body back on track. It will speed up the whole process. Start off by walking around the block. You will soon find out that it really does make you feel better even if it is a struggle to get off the couch. Once you start walk you will feel the difference because your body will start letting off the "feel good" chemicals. I'm sure you've heard the expression "runner's high". They actually get a natural high because of all large amount of endorphins your body will produce. The word endorphin consists of two parts, endo and orphin. They are short forms of the words endogenous and morphine, intended to mean "a morphine-like substance originating from within the body. So runner's high is no myth. That it why exercise is crucial to recovery. When using our body stops producing most of the feel good chemicals. That is why we go through withdrawals and usually feel down in the dumps for awhile. Anything we can do to speed up the process of our brain producing these chemicals will help immensely.
Just keep fighting and know that you will get your energy back. Eating healthy, drinking plenty of good fluids and exercise will help. Maybe get some protein shakes. Have you been taking any supplements such as the amino acid protocol? If not you really need to start.
Hang in there. It does get better!
Brian
Congrats on almost 4 days clean. It is normal to be so emotional after just quitting. It is a big adjustment for our bodies and minds to be drug free at first. Your still so early off them and things are going to improve soon. Are you craving also?
Try to find something you like to do, what are some of your hobbies? Sometimes we have to force ourselves to keep busy, but it does help. Are you taking anything to help with sleep, such as melatonin, etc?
Try going for a walk, watch a good movie later, keep talking on here. There are lots of ways to keep you distracted. Best of luck, your doing this!:)
That's true. I could start small with just a walk. I'll give it a shot and see how I'm feeling.
Thank you!
Hey Hon~ Honestly, exercise is your best friend right now. If only you can do a little walking outdoors, you'd feel better. Our bodies and brains work magically when we give
them what they need...
