My first post. I just ran out.

I just ran out of my Vicodan 24 hours ago. I took about 20 a day. I have a refill but can't refill it for 3 days. I really need to get off these. What might the next few days be like? Last night I found 4 darvocet to take the edge off. I need to stop.

I wish i had the $$ to go to mexico for a week and get some real sun. (probably would have had the money if i didn't have that stupid habit) oh well heres to having a savings account again, no pills = money IN the bank right....

Thank you mommaofpoobear. My 21 year old daughter who is my best friend came and sat with me today. That made it a little easier. I felt horrible telling her but she reads me like a book. Late in the afternoon my 16 year old daughter drug me out to look at prom gowns. It felt sureal because I thought about what I have been doing to myself and them. I've been cheating them.

I've also found that Soma, flexirel or Robaxin helps with sleep and the restless legs. Most of the time they just knock you out cold. And surprisingly Tylenol PM or any other over the counter sleep aid worked for me to!

Thank you all for being here. Today was not too bad.As of right now it is mostly the sensation of a bad sunburn. I did have the insomnia last night and finally took an ativan which helped some but I didn't sleep more than a couple of hours. I take the pills for pain but increased it for the high. I go thought a bottle of 60 in less than 4 days. I crave them bad. It has been about 44 hours.

Everyone is different...don't know whether c/t or tapering will work for you but if you know that script is available in three days that temptation is going to be the hardest part  because your symptoms could be pretty intense by then...I don't want to scare you but be honest. For me the anxiety was the worst part...I am on day 7 c/t from 10-15 10/325norco/day.  After day 5 I seem to feel a little better each day. The cravings are still there but I feel so much more in control. Sounds like you have the strength and conviction in you to do this and this forum has been such a godesend to me since I have tried to quit.  So much strong support and helpful advice here. Keeps posting and my prayers are with you!

Hey you... My story is different because I wasn't taking the pills as long as some people and I'm on the tail end of day 4 (I think...) and the worst thing I have is cravings. I didn't get much in the way of physical discomfort, I feel blessed when I read what other people go through. I've found keeping your mind busy is a huge help I feel that the strongest part of addiction is your head... not to say addiction is only in your head I know its very real, what I mean is the cravings and the mental pain seem to drive the relapse (just my opinion) I've found that doing things outdoors, working up a sweat help also both as a distraction and sweating helps flush you out. I like yoga and swimming, both are easy on achey bodies, swimming feels so great water in general has always been where I turn whenI feel yucky (I love HOT baths when I get he flu) and good good good food if you can eat, spoil yourself with comfort food (a little junk food doesn't hurt either ice cream makes everyone smile right??)if you can get through 3 days I know a lot of people will tell you you've made it through the hard part so try and not refill that RX, but don't come down on yourself if you do.... good luck!

As for what you will feel from withdrawal it pretty much like the flu, i.e. diherra, vomiting and cold sweats. The only thing that is not flu like is the insomnia. I would fall asleep for about three or four hours than get up then fall back asleep about 5 hours later. These very from person to person know saying what you will and will not experence. Just know that it dose get better with time. GOD BLESS

I think cold turkey is the way to go. Hear is a question are you talking pills for the pain or just to stop from withdrawals? Im thinking to stop the withdrawals. I think and that is just me that tapering with pills is very hard and in my experence it didnt work. Try to find an addiction specalist they are the only doctors who can perscribe a drug called Suboxoen this drug can really help you with kicking the addiction. There is a guy on here named Dpilot he has an vast amount of knowledge about this drug and if you want to know how it works I would ask him. AS very every thing else like I said its one day at a time, you can do it just bare down!!! GOD BLESS

The Darvocet didn't work. I got hooked after several surgeries and when I took care of my mother for 18months as she died of cancer.
