hello everyone--day 3 and i feel much better.  no sweats or chills, slept last night really well.  tummy still a little rocky but i feel WAY better- i just hope i dont back slide today!  I think the mental part is the worst, i get myself all psyched out and make it harder on myself.  Analysis paralysis my dad calls it!  this site has been soooooo much help.  I dont feel so lonely and like such a looser knowing there are lots of sucessful, respectable people out there just like me.  My idea of an addict has always been a person slouched behaind a dumpster with a needle hanging out of their arm, not me.  Dont judge a book, huh?

i fell alive today!  i took care of myself yesterday-- excercise, ate well, lots of h20, hot bath, good book a.05 xanax and a sleeping pill.  I live in a REALLY tiny town and our "DR" is a quack---has had me on lortab for 6 mos to supress cough-- when 10mgs didnt work anymore he told me to go to 20, and so on.  He even put my 18 mo old son on cough syrup w/ codine, and then told me if 2 tsp didnt work try 4 6 or even 8.  i finally found my sense and got him in with a pediatrician and myself an appointment with a dr in the next city(2 hrs away) and we both feel much better.  i am really pissed at myself for trusting that fool!

I agree that you should definately not go back to them and taper..Like Mikeinthesouth said..I think it is just a long drawn out process..We naturally all want to avoid any discomfort but that is impossible. I have never heard of anyone taking painkillers for bronchitis?? Anyway..You can do this..I was on many more and for 6 years..You should be feeling better by day 5..yes it will seem like forever but once you get through the physical part you will be so much better off and then you can better deal with the mental part..and the things in your life you were trying to numb..keep posting ,you will find much support here..Try to tell yourself that you have the flu..because that is what it feels like..do you have a friend or family that could help with your little one for a few days?? Good Luck..let us know how your doing..

i have xanex and valium for anxiety and ambien to sleep but i am kinda afraid to take them--dont want to end up with a bigger problem.  So you think I will feel a lot better by saturday?  I know I was taking way too much, but I am suprised to be having these kinds of withdrawl symptoms after only 2 weeks.

It won't be 2 weeks. And you will be feeling better real soon.
When i got cut off unexpectedly, my daughter gave me this herbal tea that helps you
to calm down and it worked really good.

It is made by Tradition Medicinals - called organic Nighty Night. It has passionflower, hops and chamomile in it. You make a cup of it and cover the top of the cup with something and let it sit about 5 minutes. This will make it stronger. 2 cups of this and it would put me to sleep. Can find it in most grocery stores by the teas.

How do you get off two weeks like this?  If you really want your life back you can, and will.  It won't be two weeks for the physical part of it, but there might be some mental problems.

Dig deep, take what it gives you, and the prize is waiting!

my thought is tapering is so much more of a drawn out deal. Some do some don't you have to make the correct choice for you. Mike

im in the same boat, this is day two for me, off lortab. i agree its a good idea to cut yourself off of the supplier. you have to do this for yourself, no matter how bad it hurts. im soooooooo proud of you it takes such strength to do this. dig deep its in there. love "C"

If you took that many that soon, your tolerence is pretty high right now, eh?  But you haven't been taking them long, so the withdrawl will be short.

Try not to panic. It shouldn't be real bad for just a couple of weeks. And there are all kinds of helpful ideas on here how to cope with it. You can get through this if you make a conscious decision to.

I know it sucks when you are forced into it and don't feel ready, but it really shouldn't be real bad.

NO--I DONT HAVE NAY NOW BUT AFTER READING SOME OF THE POSTS ON HERE I WONDER IF I SHOULD GO BACK AND TRY TO TAPER OFF.  I DID CALL AND TELL THE DR WHO HAD BEEN PRESCRIBING THEM, IT WAS TOO TEMPTING TO GO BACK TO IT.  HE ACTED REALLY PISSED BUT CALLED ME IN SOME XANAX--SAID THAT I HADNT BEEN ON THEM VERY LONG THIS TIME SO IT SHOULDNT TAKE TOO LONG TO DETOX.  I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A COUNSELOR NEXT WEEK ALSO.  I HAVE GONE THROUH A REALLY ROUGH FEW MONTHS. AT FIRST WHEN I WOULD START TO HAVE WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING SICK AGAIN--WHO THE HELL KNEW IT CAUSED A RUNNY NOSE?  ANYWAY, AFTER A WHILE I BEGAN TO ABUSE THEM AND USE IT AS A WAY TO NUMB MYSELF TO EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOING ON.  THIS IS MY FIRST BOUT WITH ADDICTION OF ANY KIND.

Sounds like it's time to quit. Do you have pills now? if yes, best to get rid of them. Where did you get them? from your RX?  May want to tell your Doc. It helps to cut yourself off.

There's a lot of supportive folks here on the board. Let us know how we can help.
