NOW WHAT?!?!.....a question about a w/d symptom

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has or is experiencing an electric tingling feeling in the head and other parts of the body?  I have been having this happening more & more and I get lightheaded afterwards.  Today it happened alot.  Do you guys know if this is a w/d symptom, (I have been clean for 7days) or maybe its something else.  I am sure I should just contact a doctor, but just curious if this is related to no longer taking vicodin....God, now that I am sober it's scary to think of all the possible damage I have done to my brain & body...:(

I was on Amitriptyline and Gabapentine as well at one time, and got that brain zap as well when I stopped them. I wasn't sure which one caused it though. It sure was weird though. It was like someone snapped there fingers inside your brain, LoL

It is a common withdrawal symptom, especially with hydrocodone. You may want to check out the amino acid protocol link at the bottom of the page under health links. Your serotonin and dopamine levels, as well as others are lacking, and will cause those feelings, as well as the tiredness and anxiety, and strange moods as well. You could be thinking about a happy memory and feel sad instead, etc. Funny things happen when your neurotransmitters aren't up to snuff.  Taking some supplements and eating foods that contain natural sources of these amino acids will help you feel better until your system slowly returns to normal.

I suffered from these brain zaps for a month after quitting Amitriptyline and Tramadol and it is the weirdest feeling, as if the floor has been pulled away suddenly. They do get less and less so do not worry they will slowly disappear. It is advisable to cut down slowly with drugs that cause these symptoms, normally the ones that affect serotonin levels in the brain.

Actually the electric "zaps" or shocks are a very common withdrawal symptom.  I think as long as you have no other health issues you don't need to worry - it's uncomfortable and feels really strange (I remember very well!) - but common nonetheless and it did finally stop for me (within a few weeks).

As time continues to pass the severity of the symptoms will lessen and eventually stop for good you'll see!  Congrats on the 7 days!

Hi and welcome ! I have heard about many members experiencing that symptom in recovery so by no means are you alone with that ! As far as your brain gos I am not a doctor but have been told one of the good things about Hydrocodone is it is basically a benign chemical and does not do permanent damage to your body or brain .  What does harm your body is the acetaminophen in Vicodin and other drugs . So if you were keeping that at about 4 grams a day that is considered safe ! I know heavy users are not with in those guidelines . But again I would not worry about damage to your brain it will heal I am sure .. Peace Jimmy
