Need support

Im a 36 year old wife and mother of 4. I was prescribed Tramadol over 6-months ago. I became very dependant on it after being prescribed for headaches from a bulging disc in c-spine. About a month ago i was put on Vicoden for extreme pain from turned vertebraes a disc bulge. I stopped the tramadol, which made me feel good because I couldnt do it alone. Well, not realising how addictive vicodin is, Im back to square one but worse. I have been having horrible sleep patterns on this and I do feel some sort of feeling when I take it that is calming. Im on 10/325 and take about 4 a day, Im scared I will take more. My husband doesnt know about this and I dont want him to know as Im embarrased to like this feeling and know Im going to go through horrible withdrawl. I just need the push toget off for good!

Have you asked your Dr for assistance? There is nothing to be ashamed of. Dependency is a little different than addiction. I have been both. Your doctor should understand that you want to reduce your dependency on the hydrocodone. The acetaminophen has new warnings from the FDA for kidney problems. Just saying that you need to be informed. Good luck and if you make up your mind to do it, then you will.

Hi and welcome.
So as others have said, you should stop faking the Vicodin.
Being that you were on the tramadol for 6 months, you became dependent. Now switching to Vicodin (which is stronger) you are filling your opiated receptors with another drug.
So that being said, I feel you will have some withdrawal symptoms from your combined 7 month use.is there any way you can taper off the Vicodin?
Perhaps you should speak to your husband.
Tapering is easier if you have someone hold and give you the meds.
Stick around here and start the healthy habits we suggest for withdrawal while you taper.
If you can't taper, then just stop.
You withdrawal symptoms should be mild considering your short term use.
Oh and it's great to catch this so early, because it will only get harder.
Take the reigns and nip this in the bud now.
I promise it's worth it. You are with it!

Hi. The quicker you stop, the easier it will be to stop.
You'll be admitting to everyone that you have no power over this drug.
Don't be embarrassed.  It's certainly not your fault. Furthermore the euphoria you feel now, will be very short lived. Upon later use, no matter the dose, you won't be able to feel that calm either.
      Congratulations to you.    Pamela
