Sorry I haven't written you all back but you have been a tremendous help.
I did stop the neurontin 3 days ago and in the meantime have picked up the worst cold I have had in years.
At least my pupils seem to be about the same size now and I can finally focus much better. The other symptoms seem to be going away as well.
Now, if I can beat this cold so I can get to the gym and start exercising maybe I can get the endorphins working and get rid of the pain I seem to be stuck with.
If my nose will just settle, I do have back exercises I can do, but since most of those involve lying on my back I'm having a bit of a problem with doing them.
I swear the other stuff is nerve type pain and I have no idea where that came from. I'm more afraid I'm going to find out the disk about the one I had fused has gone out also.
Time will tell. I think maybe I better start with a therapy pool first.
Again, sorry to be so late writing, especially since you all were so kind to answer so quickly!

It is always best to check with your doctor. But since your doctor is out of town you could call a pharmacist just to verify everything. That being said I will say that you should be fine just stopping it but I would check with someone in the health field first just to be safe. I was taking about 1800mg a night for ten days while detoxing off of vicodin. I didn't feel any negative symptoms from stopping it. Everyone's body does react to meds different ways so I would at least call a pharmacist. You could even call one of the nurse hotlines from a different office and they should be able to help you. It's always best to talk to someone that really knows the effects of medications before doing anything. Pharmacists seem to know more about meds than doctors as they tend to be more up to date on them. Just give one a call and ask. It would only take 5 minutes. Best of luck to you!!

yeah BTW Is was on a VERY high dose for over a year there were on issues
i took it for about a month during my wds from opiates just at night for sleep....stopped with no problems...i think you ll be fine...maria
I never had any type of wd ....They do have you taper it sometimes when they have you come of if you are using it as anti seizure med.
Hi Lizzy,
You will not have any problems stopping the medication at your dose and for the length of time you have taken it. I stopped taking it suddenly after my detox because of the same issues you are having and never had a problem - and my dose was twice yours and I was taking for a much longer period. You should not have a problem.
Thank you so much for answering. My doc is out of town this week. Seems I always need her when she is off playing. I did talk to an on call doc, who doesn't know me, and two pharmacists who also don"t know me and got three different answers!!!
I can only conclude that I should not need medical help during the holidays!! :)
Why is it docs don't let you know about the weight gain associated with drugs until after the fact? Now, maybe yours was good and told you but mine never mentions weight gain!
Again, thanks so much for writing!
Lizzy

I don't think you will have any w/d's but please ask you doctor.
