No longer filling scrip due to department of justice

Doctor called to say that they will no longer be filling my presriptions due to a report that was on her desk from the department of justice? I am nervous- have abused going to different doctors to get pain killers - now looks as if they have all connected the information.
I did not forge any documents - but did not disclose that i was receiving medication from other sources -dentists ect

Does anybody have any history in this situation or can share what the laws are in this circumstance?

Need info-

Good job. Step two (and it's probably already been done for you) be sure all sources are cut. Step three, tell anyone close to you about your addiction; family, anyone who may have given you meds in the past. If you keep your secret you will relapse behind it. Step four, get some form of aftercare. NA meetings, etc.  You may have dodged the bullet on this one. Be sure it doesn't happen in the future. Your mind will start talking to you, "just one won't hurt" and you're off to the races. Good luck.

OK - status update: went c/t ... had hed on desk, felt like "blank" for good 2 days, just muscle thru it - slept with a little nyquil to fight the flu symptoms. Read everything on this forum about diahereah, hydration - and knowing that my leg is doing the flip flop fish, and that i am dripping sweat at night, then finally getting your appetite back a bit -stomach issues slowing - day 7 and just yawning .. which according to the forum is normal for this. So now i just need energy and all is well. Crazy how dependent you are on it. I sit at my desk and just auto pilot to grab a couple pills. Now what I do is look up to the sky and wink and say "we can do this god" and silly enough i get a rather sunny feeling inside ... and you are right - you can do this. Just do it.
Thanks for the help all - and just know - you can do it, its brutal for like 3-5 days but we have all had the flu and just wink up to the skies and you can do it!

I got caught doing this in Kentucky a long time ago, 2003 I think.  Now I didn't hear anything about the department of justice, that does sound a bit heavy for doctor shopping.  Basically what happened was, like you, I was seeing multiple doctors for the same controlled medication.  Some time in July of that year, I went to see a doctor about getting a refill, he left the office and was gone for a long time, I knew something wasn't right.  He came back in with a scroll of doctor visits and pharmacies I had used, KASPER got me, prescription monitoring program.  I had no idea this was in place then but I know now that almost every state has one.  If you are doctor shopping it's not a matter of if, but when.

I was advised to obtain legal councel by a lawyer I knew, who said they were cracking down on this type of diversion and that the police would likely be paying me a visit.  Long story short, it never happened, I wasn't a big enough fish and certainly was not dealing.

I was red flagged, treated badly any time I went to a new doctor or ER, and had a difficult time getting pain meds for the next few years.  This is a wakeup call, if you're not in trouble now you can be certain you will be if you continue.  Chances are (and I'm not a laywer) if you express a desire to seek recovery, you won't face any serious fines or jail time.  I can only speak from my experience and what I've heard from others and/or read on the net.

Good luck to you...

hi, someone just told me this happened to her as well. She was flagged because she attempted to fill too many prescriptions in one month.  She had different ones for different reasons from different doctors. It may be a blessing in disquise, even though i know it may not seem like it.  Do you want to stop taking pain pills?  Because you can, and life really is much easier without that monkey on our backs.

Hi info.  I do not have personal experience, but what you are doing is something called "doctor shopping".  Most states now have a network that is set up to monitor prescriptions filled for a controlled substance that will identify people who are getting prescriptions filled for a controlled substance from multiple sources.  It appears that you have been identified and actions taken will be done to not allow you to obtain prescriptions.  This forum is for those who want to stop abusing.  If you want to stop using, then please keep posting.  There are a lot of people on this forum who can give you a lot of great advice to get clean and stay clean. Best of luck to you.
