Norco Withdrawal

I was diagnosed with MS about 4 years ago and when I started to experience "significant pain" I was prescribed first with Vicodin 5/500 then Norco 10/325. I have been taking the Norco (about 8 a day) for 1 1/2 years. I have gone through the hidjooos withdrawal symptoms several times but was always saved by a refill within 3 days. I would really love to be free of this addiction. It is a dark cloud in an otherwise happy life. I try not to keep it a secret but that doesnt help when I run out. Withdrawal is a lonely, painful and sickening process. It is a true blessing to read your forum. I would really like advice on how to taper off to avoid the W/S. And eventually, be free of this addiction. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate help in any form. Either recipes or other non-addictive drugs that might help the process that I fear more than anything. God Bless you all. And Thanks.

I would be very careful about Suboxone.  You would be just trading addictions at this point and wd's can be very ugly and drug out.

Have you talked with your doctor about this?

I do not feel like it is an "addiction" as much as it is your body's dependence on the medication... because you have been taking it for so very long.  When you hurt your body processes the medication differently than if you have no pain.  Maybe it is just that you and your doctor need to look to change your medication to something that would be more effective than what you are on now.... good luck... stay strong...
