Norco withdrawal

I've got really bad IBS and have been on Norco for about two years now.  The last several months I've noticed that I go through 90 pills in four or five days (taking sometimes 10 a day) which is horrible.  I hate that I'm living my life for a pill and not for myself, but the cravings for these stupid things are really strong.  Yesterday, I had a moment and got rid of all the pills I had left and today I'm regretting that decision because that's all I can think about.  It's like every second I'm awake I'm thinking maybe I left one somewhere and can go find it.  I don't want to take them anymore since they didn't appear to be helping with the IBS pain that much.  For those that have gone off of them for a while, do these every second cravings go away?  It's not even been 24hrs. yet and I have chills, cold sweats, stuffy nose, etc.  This stinks.  I know people have gotten off of these things and I know I'm stronger than a stupid pill.

I've heard some people mention the bath thing and say it really helps relax the anxiety.  I'll give it a try.  No more slave!!  Yeah!!

I'll look into that.  Thanks for the advice.  Keep strong.  I guess we're all in this together!!  I'll look forward to coming back on this site in a few months saying that I'm still off of them.  They're wonderful, but at the same time, they're horrible.

I've had IBS for about two years now and it's been the fun "combo-pack" as you put it.  I love it when doctors ask you how many days out of the week do you have constipation and/or diarrhea, and I feel like screaming.  My doctor has been prescribing them like crazy and now suddenly with the new DEA rules in place, he's refusing to fill them.  I just found out on Friday that I've been diagnosed with a c-diff infection and am taking Flagyl for that.  It would be really nice to have pain medicine right now because the level of pain I'm in right now is about a 1000 on their 1-10 pain scale.  It's been about six days now but I can't tell if I'm feeling crappy from the Flagyl (which does that), from the withdrawal, the c-diff, or the IBS.  Probably all of the above.  I never realized how someone could kill themselves, and I honestly don't think I ever could, but when you feel like complete garbage it's very easy to think that death would be nicer then this.  Hope your IBS gets better.  I hate IBS!!  and Norcos!!

I've got really bad IBS too, and the last thing you want is to be addicted to opiates.  Do you have the Constipation or Diarrhea kind of IBS?  Or is it the delightful 'combo-pack'? lol.

Opiates put our digestive tracts to sleep.  When we go off them, well, lets just say, they go in the opposite direction.  I started having D on day 4 and it didn't let up until...oh wait, it is still here! (but not as bad...I'm on day 35.)

Are these prescribed by your doctor?  If so, please consider calling him/her and asking for advice.   Good luck...we're here for you..

Don't feel alone, half the country is going or has gone through what you are going through. It takes three days of feeling icky and five days to really feel improvement. In the meanwhile treat yourself to a candlelit bath (trust me)
and some real good nutrition and don't forget your multi-vitamins and omega 3
fish oil. Tell yourself how good it feels not to be a slave to Norco. Seek help with NA if you need some support and to talk with others who have truly been there. and Good Luck you are headed in the right direction. :)
