Officially flushed all my pills. Day 1 starts TODAY

So I decided to take a lot of peoples advice and just QUIT!! The pills weren't making me feel better anymore, they were just making me feel like a bad person. So i flushed the rest of my oxy last night, and it has been 24 hours now since my last pill. The only side effects I have so far are sore legs and muscles, but I plan to take some magnesium for that and of course some tylenol or ibprofen. You guys have given me so much hope and advice, I think I can really really DO IT this time!!

All I have to say is you are so wrong about Tramadol.
Really do your research its extremely addictive and is one of the worst to come off from for wds. It is not a non-narco its just a man made one with many dangers.
This one can kill you and stop your breathing even at only 4-500mg a day.
Its a really dumb thing to replace one opiate with another opiate when your trying to get clean just plain dumb because your brain receptors knows more than you what a opiate feels like. Its like saying well I stopped drinking the way I was drinking I switched from Rum to Whisky!
Peace

Thank you all so much. So far it is day 2, and I had heart burn, runs, and nausea yesterday and a little this morning. But today.... so far so good!!! Nothin I can't handle!! Day 2 today is easier than I thought, although I have been taking Xanax to help with my overly sensitive emotions and suicidal thoughts. Everything seems to be going fine!! Thanks so much guys... I spent last night searching everywhere for my codein cough syrup, but I couldn't find it (thank GOD!!) and I ended up taking nyquil instead. haha... I haven't had any cravings. Which is strange... but one of my friends is quitting too and he kind of freaked out last night, I still haven't been able to get a hold of him. :( I hope he is okay. Anyways, enough of my rambling. THANK YOU ALL!! I will keep you updated on how im feeling.

My wireless internet has been down the past three days so I've been out of the loop. Your posting brought tears to my eyes, believe it or not. You've been through so much just the past week alone -- And to see that you've finally made the decision to come off the pills by flushing them like I did makes me want to come to your house right now and stay by your side until the very SECOND you get better. We've become really good friends, and let me tell you that you're not alone in any of this. If you ever need a friend, just let me know. If you need someone to pick up the phone and call, you let me know - Just message me and we can get through this together. I promise.

I USE to be a nurse till my health went way down hill!! constant pain and my drs are NOT happy that ive chosen to do so~i do know that ativan can be addictive and as for tranadol, its farrrrr way less addicting with hardly no side effects of abusing or becoming addicted to it! as i said, do not do my schedule for more then 3-7 days!! and no more then 1 to maybee 2 ultrams a day...as for the ativan its in the thomas recipe as well!!
also fred, go and get some VIT B6 and some centrum! this will help your body repair itself!! again i state lots of fluids, and dont forgot a soda :) this replenishes the sugars your losing and have lost in your drug fight:) your doing awesome! i havent felt one withdrawal symptom other then some aches and pain on the first day! i dont have to go off these meds if i dont want to but i want my life back!!!too many years missed!!

BTW,my father is a orthopedic surgeon and i asked his advice and he said taking the tramadol is the meds that drs give to either drug seekers,or minor pain, or if someone just needs a bigger booster shot of tylenol in there system!GOD BLESS YOU AS U BEGIN UR NEW LIFE!!!THINGS DO GET BETTER!!

I was pretty addicted to Tramadol when i was still using drugs.Although it is weak and will not cause any physical addiction ,it can be phsycologically addicting.I was taking up to 800mg per day of Ultram just for the high, and i got a Rx of 120 per month for over a year.As the Doc says above , it is narcotic like.

yes, Tramadol in small doses will help you detox off the Norco. Take one first thing in the morning and another 3/4 hours later. DO NOT take too many as they will make you very sleepy and feel dizzy. If you get any relief from the tramadol you should then start to take walks at night, drink lots of water and take warm baths to induce sweating/detox. Take them for a week at the longest and taper to only one a day..

Thanks putyounacoma, Ultram is non-narcotic. One of the reasons it can help with withdrawals, is because it is a pain reliever, and part of the withdrawal problem from other drugs, is the pain, and cramping that results.

Compared with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Tramadol does not aggravate hypertension or congestive heart failure, nor does it have the potential to cause peptic ulcer disease.

Compared with narcotics (opioid analgesics), Tramadol does not induce significant respiratory depression, constipation, or have significant abuse potential.

    *

To treat postoperative pain, especially in patients who do not want or need stronger narcotics like Vicodin, Percocet or Oxycontin, but for whom Tylenol is not strong enough
    *

To control pain that flares up from time to time, although it is recommended that the cause be evaluated to determine if other treatment (such as physical therapy) might minimize the pain flares

Hi !!  Just wanted to say that you will be okay.  Try the immodium, it has something in it that will help the receptors in the stomach along with the runs!  OTC pain (arthritis strength) hot baths, muscle rub, heating pad.  These things are good.  Drink plenty of  fluids and take the vitamins.  Days 2,3,4 are sometimes the worst days but everyone is different.
Take care, be good to yourself

thank you all so much. After I wrote my last post, I started feeling the nausea and the (i know, gross...) runs and the shakes and hot / cold flashes. It hit me like a storm. The only reason im able to type this right now is because ive taken nyquil, xanax, promethazine, and took a bath and feel a bit better. Im laying on the couch, and I think I am going to try and sleep.

For Pain Patient, I was taking 60mg of oxy a day for about 6 to 9 months. I don't remember the time span, I was taking vicodin and percocet before oxy for about 2 years. So I basically switched one pain med for another.

Good night guys, Lets hope day 2 isn't so bad!!! :(

Congrats on the best decision of your life!!  I remember thinking withdrawals was like a rollercoaster. Sometimes it was super scary but after  3, 4, then 7 days I was yelling "COME ON WITHDRAWALS IS THAT ALL YOU GOT!!   I got in the soldier mode and I was out to be my HERO. I had to be real diligent about not allowing myself to run my negative thinking tapes. Like I really screwed up etc.  I kept thanking God for being there, I cried, staggered, was freezing , ya know , all of it.  But WOW  FREEDOM ROCKS!!!!  you can do this  I'm praying for you now.

Ultram Pain Relieverf
By: Peter F. Ullrich, Jr., MD

Ultram is a type of narcotic-like oral pain reliever that is often prescribed to treat low back pain. Ultram, also known as tramadol, was approved by the FDA in 1998 and acts centrally (in the brain) to modulate the sensation of pain.

It is not an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) nor does it have the anti-inflammatory effect of an NSAID. Its mechanism of action is similar to acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol), but Ultram is a stronger pain reliever than acetaminophen and has a weak narcotic effect.

While Ultram is technically a narcotic or opioid pain medication, it is different from typical narcotics in that patients do not build up a tolerance with extended usage and there is a very low incidence of addiction. With other narcotics there is a general tendency to escalate the dosage of the medicine with time and a chance of addiction. The narcotic effect of Ultram is not as strong as the narcotic agents in other common pain medications, such as Vicodin (hydrocodone) and Oxycontin and Percocet (Oxycodone).

Yea, and ultram isn't really too easy to get, I don't want to trade one opiate for another synthetic opiate... I think I am going to stick with my vitamins and xanax and ibprofen and sleep through the withdrawals. I should be on day 4 by Monday and feeling good enough to work! Right now, I have slight chills, feverish... and aches in my legs, plus im losing my balance a lot. But I am getting through this day. Its been 29 hours since my last pill!!! I am feeling awesome about it, although I am feeling slightly sick I know it will only last a few days. :)

The WDs from Ultram was so bad that one day i was out of Percs/Vics and was CRAVING sooooooooooo bad and i had access to Ultram (Mexico) and the thought never even crossed my mind to take them...

Sometimes, I wished the WDs from Percs/Vics were as bad as Ultram so I would never go to any of them....

Hi Sara =)

Ultram is very addicting........is very dangerous to wd from and has to be tapered.  People on this forum have horror stories of coming off that.        sara

I have taken Ultram before and came off them for WDs and not trying to scare anyone because if you get hooked on those, those WDs are worse, in my opinion than Percs/Vics....Also, I think Ultram (Tramadol) is VERY addictive...

Just my 2 cents

i can get into a long story of all my habits although everything i have is prescribed by drs(doesnt make it better) ive never snorted, nor shot up!ive taken them by the book, and maybe cut one in half here and there!my drs have me on 80mg oxy 3xs a day + 8-15 10/500mg percs + 5mg oxycodone 3-4 a day allowed on those!ALSO phen patches100mcg 2 a day depending on my pain level!!! ive been on percs and oxys since i was 17 because i do have sum health issues one being that i need brain surgery!
my drs are begging me NOT TO GO off these meds and this is something im doing for myself as i have a 3 yr old and im tired of having to function on these things all day everyday!!soooo i decided to taper myself down..i did great on both so far but now were towards the end and the withdrawals are starting to hit HARD!!
NO SLEEP,TONS OF PAIN ON TOP OF MY NORMAL EVERYDAY PAIN!ANXIOUS,
QUITE IRRITABLE, i got lucky not to have the pukes!that i dont understand, but everyone is different!!
so i went on a hunt on how to make my own concoction to curve the withdrawals with out trading for the same narc just different name!!! know what i mean?i thought ibuprofen would help with the leg aches!NOPEEEEEEE...just took care of headache..then i tried one of my benzodiazepines (restoril) which i use for my tourettes syndrome!and in the morning when i was up it actually helped for about 2 hrs curve alllllll symptoms!but at the end of 2 hrs the aches were coming back!

so heres what i do right now and im on my 6th day of cold turkey .. no mind you, i haven't puked once, the aches pains headaches, no sleep, and all the other crappy things that come along with withdrawals, i only felt the 1st day as i finally figured something out!!! :) wink-wink now listen careful!  (BTW, UR GONNA HAVE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THESE MEDS AVAILABLE AND DON'T STAY ON THEM TOO LONE!NO LONGER THEN A WEEK....THIS IS TO ONLY CURVE OFF THE SYMPTOMS OF WITHDRAWALS SO YOU FEEL GOOD!!) (ALSO THIS IS WHATS WORKING FOR ME! EVERYONE'S DIFFERENT!)

1.) IN THE MORNING RIGHT WHEN U WAKE UP TAKE 1- 2MG ATIVAN ALONG WITH one 50 mg ULTRAM (ultrams non addictive-its an over glorified Tylenol)(my fathers a dr and said that coming off ultram is very easy) i chew the ultram AFTER i take ativan..gives the ativan time to get down there:)
i then take either 2 Tylenol OR 1 800mg ibuprofen (each persons different and might need more but DONT JUST take another in 5 mins because of being impatient!give it time!)

2.)i know this might sound funny cause most people say drink water and flush your system out faster!i agree! drink tons of juices and water!BUT dont forget to have a soda..i say that because the ativan does make ya a little sleepy and yes i know we all love to sleep thru withdrawals,BUT YOUR NOT GOING TO FEEL the withdrawals!!!
if u do this the right way!the soda gives u the sugar your body needs from not being able to eat from some appetite loss!! plus it gives u a little energy from everything else!and splurge, have sum candy:) NOT TOO MUCH CAFFEINE!

3.)DURING THE DAY when u start to maybe feel some aches and pains start the process RIGHT AWAY so the withdrawals dont hit u head on full force!! please dont over do it on this recipe! i know for a fact this works!im on 6th day and im actually sitting here in a great mood,no pain, and gaining my sex drive back and appetite :)
weeeeee sexxxxxxxx!!! lol ;)

4.)during the day if u feel the need to take a few Tylenol in-between all that ITS OK!its NOT GONNA KILL YOU!!! as much stuff as your taking, that will kill you faster then bringing yourself down with a few more Tylenol!

5.)try to have someone who cares about you try to be there for you!i promise what ive just told you WILL WORK!!!im on more then you prescribed and im breezing through this!!and you CAN TOO!!!!:) u might have a burst of irritability even though u feel no withdrawal pains, and that's ok its going to happen! but if u do what i told you to, that will only happen every now and then!
make sure if you have time, and a computer, to put some music videos or just songs that are soothing...it will lower your heart rate by 100% and almost send you to think of other things!!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO TAKE MORE TYLENOL OR IBUPROFEN IN-BETWEEN YOUR CONCOCTION IF YOU NEED IT!! THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT JUST DON'T OVER DO IT!...
people have faith in me, i have faith in you!

You have half of the battle won already, by just being positive!!! Congrats on flushing the pills and you are 100% correct...YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! Just hang on and you will be good to go. One thing that really helped me when I went c/t from fentanyl was exercise. I hate even admitting that since when the advice was given to me all I could think was "yeah right, that is just what I feel like doing"  It really helped me alot w/my legs. Good luck to you and keep us posted.
