Hi everyone, As you can see, My name is Valerie, I'm the Mother of 3 (28, 21 & 15). I became an addict appx 6-7yrs ago. following a simple gall bladder surgery. I had been offered pain killers all throughout my life by so called friends and respectfully declined time and time again. I couldn't understand why these people like pain pills so much? Well, after my surgery, I brought my prescription of pain pills home and threw them in the medicine cabinet like I have done my whole life. I started feeling the intense pain of the surgery and decided to take one of my pain pills....vicodine!! I got so high, energetic and happy, not to mention the pain was gone within 15 minutes. I thought to myself "This is why they take pain pills!!" I was off and running from then on and didn't even know it. I always knew the word addiction, but I didn't have a clue about the definition and the meaning of the word until one day when I became ill. I thought I had the flu (which I never get due to my phenomenal immune system). I confided in my BFF for advice (who is a nurse) and she told me that I had become dependant on the pain pills, to prove her wrong, I went to purchase a few. I took one and within minutes, I was back to good. It spiraled out of control from then on. I maintained my job, my home and my car for a good 4 yrs into the addiction, but I started using heavier and more potent pain pills, that became more costly and eventually, I lost everything, 1st my home, then my job and then my car. I have been to rehabs and clinics for help. Suboxen worked for me for about a year until an incident happened with a friend of 30 yrs knocking 6 of my teeth out because he too was an addict and out of his mind the day it took place. To this day, I do not know why he did what he did. ( cleaned for him, ran errands, put food in his home, took care of his Mother, even found $200 doing laundry one day and gave it back to him because even in my addiction, I don't a thieving bone in my body). It wasn't long after that, that my depression got the best of me and I slipped back into addiction, this time going full speed ahead with herion. I started out snorting until my high school significant other kept on me and on me to use a needle, kept telling me, I was wasting it. That's how much he loved me. I guess he figured if he could get me to his level of using it, it would make it alright for him. I'm not placing blame, I made the ultimate decision to give in to the needle. Now I am paying for it dearly. My BMI is a 16, should be a 27-29. My iron level is a 7, they thought their machine was broke. I have OD'ed 3 times on fentanyl patches When I couldn't find my drug of choice....herion! Sometimes I don't see a way out except death?! Suboxone do not work for me. I throw up violently and I in my research, and I have done plenty of it, my only hope is methadone. Can anyone help me find a methadone Dr that does prescritions and not the liquid drink? I'm from the Wooster, Medina, Akron area. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I wish all of you on here an happy ending and a solution for your sobriety. I know the hell all too well. Pleasssee help me if you can. I will be checking daily for any replies and hopefully leads in the right direction. Respectfully, With Warm Wishes to All........Valerie

I hope you have had some progress in finding a methadone dr or clinic. I am in the same shape as you are and I am seeking out a personal Dr for help right now because I have seizures that normally stem from stress so I would like to avoid the daily drives for a dose of methadone if I can help it by getting on a prescription of the pills (wafers). If you have had any luck would you mind sharing? Good Luck to you and Thank You for reading and hopefully you can respond with good results.

There is a clinic near the fair grounds. As you know methadone has a harder withdrawal then heroin and anything else. Just a suggestion but have you thought of trying buprenorphone (suboxone) unlike methadone suboxone dont appear to cause a delay in ur psycho-motor or cognitive performance. It is highly lipid bound and it provides a reservoir of medication that can control opioid withdrawal symptoms for extended amounts of time.  A awesome advantage of suboxone is that the withdrawal symptoms experienced when you discontinue are not as long or intense as seen in methadone withdrawal symptoms.

from what I see you are in ohio???? I am really struggling with a heroin addiction.  I started out taking pain pills when my husband ran me over with my car.  Then I got hooked.  The pills started costing more than I could afford and my husband has been addicted to heroin for 8 years.  He had me try that and it took a lot less and was way cheaper.  I knew i would not be able to quit if he was in the home.  He is now in prison and I would like to take methadone.  I used it once before to come off the pills.  I used a step down program and I bought them off the street.  It really worked for me.  I want to use that now.  Please help me find methadone.

I'm in Ohio and was getting methadone off the street. I now go to a clinic, I told them I was addicted to it and ask for their help to get off and they told me to go to crisis care first to get a referral.  Also I have kids...they don't call CPA in fact they have a small area that works as a child care so I leave ur kids there if u bring them. Good luck, it's helping me.

you sound like you have been getting it off the street or other places. Clinics don't like to take someone with methadone in their urine unless they are tranferring from one clinic to another. all the best

Hi.  I take methadone too.A person can't just stop taking it without getting real sick,as you know by now.I live Canada and my clinic didn't ask to many questions other than what was my method of payment. If you go to one they will tell you the info you want to know.If you are comfortable with them, they may be able to get you on a taper program to get you off it.
Good luck.            karl
