Opiate Addiction

I have been using oxycodone for about a year now.  I have been trying to quit but have been unsuccessful.  I want to go to my family for help but they have already spent upward of $100,000 on treatment for me two years ago when I had a problem with cocaine. They would be devastated if they knew I had developed a new addiction.  I have a job and spend my entire pay check on drugs.  Oxys are the only thing I look forward to.  When I run out of money I become depressed and see no reason to go out and spend time with friends.  When I can get the drug I will go out and have a great night.  When I run out I can't sleep and the insomnia makes me feel like I will never get off this ****. I have had problems with depression and use the oxy to deal with it.  I am to afraid to go to a doctor because I don't want to disappoint my parents.  I wish I could just quit completely and feel myself again without this worthless substance.

The withdrawls will or could last for about a week, the first 3 days are the worst deppending on how much your body is dependent upon it. Hang in there and let all you go through this week be a reminder the next time you think about taking another pill. My heart go's out to you and thats why i say this, because if you dont stop now it's gona get worse and worse next time.

so for the last 6 months I have been taking methadone. Not on a regular basis at all..take one 10mg pill a day for 4-6 days then take nothing for weeks, Sometimes months. I took it everyday for about 7 days then stopped for 2 weeks and at that 2 week mark I started getting horrible insomnia, hallucinations, and flu like symptoms with I chalked up to being withdrawal symptoms. i couldnt understand why I would take 2 weeks of not taking it to peak at my withdrawal (if thats what it was) so then i ended up taking it again for about 14 days in a row and told myself I couldnt do it anymore. It was stupid and I didnt want to be addicted to it... now here comes the withdrawals again. would it be okay to take a couple vicodins to wean myself off or should I just quit cold turkey again? I will NEVER touch this drug again! The withdrawals are horrible. Even tho i dont take it regularly they still really efect my body...please somebody help me

i would really encourage you to go to your dr. you are on a roller coaster here, by running out and then topping up again ,your going in and out of withdrawal.anything you see your dr about should be totally confidential, he could help taper you off the pills, although i did it cold turkey, also you need proper help and perhaps meds for your deppression. it wont end until you decide to do something about it. you dont want to keep living like this and have your whole life in front of you, also as youve had an addiction previously, perhaps you need to get to the bottom of why this keeps happening, and need to get some after care set up so once clean you can stay clean. i really wish you well,    sudie

Hang in there I feel your pain. One of the things that help me get clean was Gabapentin (Neurontin). I took 300mgs a day 3xs a day and it help relax me and helped with sleep. Only get a small amounts worth just to get you throught about 5 days of withdrawal and then discontinue use. Worked better for me than any benzo did. Also helps keep a stable mood. It's not a magic pill but certainly very helpful.
