Pain control

I have recently detoxed from Percocet and codeine and feel like I have no options for pain control now.  I have rheumatoid arthritis and as a result of this have a torn Tfcc ligament that now requires surgery.  My doctors do not want to treat me for pain because of my addiction so I'm looking up solutions myself.  My question is can someone with opiate dependence take the fentanyl patch?  Has anyone been in this situation!  Someone had mentioned using Suboxone in opiate withdrawal and I always say it is a wonder drug!!  I have tried getting off pills cold turkey and it never worked.  I have now been pill free since January 2011 and I know that I have the Suboxone to thank for that.  I was in detox for 12 days while on, but felt Fantasic about an hour after starting.  Just a though for anyone considering how to detox without the severe symptoms :)

There are alot of different options out there and you may find that once you are off of everything your pain may not be as bad as you think.I would suggest get the surgury soon so that the pain of the tear doesnt keep you from getting off the narcotics and after start detoxing off of the narcotics and start trying your hand at otcs. With the RA do they have you on anti inflammatories? I would definately try aleve for that. Best wishes and good luck

If you managed to get OFF opiates, you ABSOLUTELY don't want to go the FENTANLY route or you will be going down a road of little return! If you don't have a Pain Management MD, get one...BEFORE your surgery. That is their area of expertise and there are other drugs to get you through a surgery without becoming addidcted again.
